                                                                                                            We’ve been a long time consumer of the Jeff Ruby restaurants and normally it’s top notch. This visit was the worst and even though one item was compensated, I’m going to have a hard time going back to Jeff Ruby’s Columbus. It was my daughter’s birthday and we each ordered a filet mignon, my daughter ordered medium well and it was overdone, very well and burns on the edges. Our other steaks were ordered medium and were overdone more like medium well. Service was fine but food service was slow. Downstairs was closed so all patrons were on the main level and it was not packed so I’m not sure if they were understaffed but I am not pleased with this visit.

                                                                                                            our waitress was great-informative and cordial. My complaint is this-We had 4 persons and were celebrating 3 birthdays in the past 1 week. We told our waitress about this. At the end of the meal as I was ready to pay she brought out 1 small piece of their butter pie with 3 candles. I appreciated the gesture and we all had 2 bites to finish it-it was delicious. But here is the rub-I gave her the credit card since we were in a hurry and so she brought back the receipt to sign. When I looked we were charged $13 for the what I thought was a complimentary gesture. I signed the receipt and we left. Our bill was over $360 so it sure seems petty to charge for the "birthday pie " I did not even order. So Ces't la Vie

                                                                                                            Waiter was very good. A smaller table for two would have been nice instead of a large booth since it was just my husband and I. Steaks were charred on the outside. Not worth the price.

Classic steakhouse experience that makes you want to book back to back nights just to try something else on the menu. Butter pie is an excellent way to finish!
