About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views
  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
Welcome to The Jolly Fisherman, Craster. Combining stunning sea views with delicious home cooking and beautifully kept ales, this is a tastefully refurbished pub with tradition and character at its heart. We’ve taken great care to retain the charm of this historic pub with stone flagged floors, low beamed ceilings and comfortable seating. In the winter months, you can relax by one of our roaring open fires and in the summer enjoy the view from one of the most spectacular beer gardens in Northumberland.

We had a lovely table looking out over the sea in perfect weather. All the staff were so helpful and made it a pleasure to eat here. Delicious crab salad and ice cream selection. Wonderful place

Stunning food, drink and views. Menu had so much quality it was hard to choose. But my wife rated the Craster Scotch Egg starter as the most memorable thing she'd eaten in our Northumbrian trip (and we had a few excellent meals - the Jolly Fisherman's fish pie was crammed with fishy goodness too). The tables faced big windows that looked out to the sea - incredibly atmospheric, especially as we were blessed with cloudless blue skies and a sea full of dramatic waves. Staff were super-friendly and professional. Excellent choice of ales and a good wine list too. Would highly recommend the restaurant and hope to visit again.

Both my choices of meat pie and wine (Rioja) were disappointing, particularly the latter which was undrinkable. The pie would have been much better without the ale, which gave it a most unpleasant taste, as wine does to gravy. However, the crab soup starter was very good, as were all elements of my wife's meal. Neither of us had desert.

We had read excellent reviews about The Jolly Fisherman and decided to visit. We definitely weren’t disappointed. We had a lovely view over the sea, the seafood platter was absolutely delicious, the service was friendly and efficient and the ambience was warm and pleasant. We would definitely recommend a visit. The only slight niggle was that the on-line booking was not very user-friendly.

Unfortunately we chose the lamb Sunday roast and the lamb was inedible , and the Yorkshire pudding was cold! There was another table close by who also complained. The manager did however apologise and we did not have to pay for the lamb lunch. We have always had a good meal before so we will not be put off from this experience. My husband chose the fish cakes and he said they were good .

A great venue with excellent food! We hadn’t visited Craster for a number of years and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. All colleagues were clearly working together as a team and made customer wishes happen. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming in this unique location. Well done The Jolly Fisherman!
