About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Innovative
  • Charming
At KELP we take our time to make sure the food that goes on your plate is a fresh and local as possible. We source our seafood to be specifically Scottish and sustainable. We pride ourselves on using local suppliers for all our food. The fish people supply our fresh seafood daily. Our bread comes from Soja bakehouse, a family owned bakery in Cumbernauld. Our meat comes from ABR butchers, based in Bearsden.
Our executive chef, Christopher Hutchison, creates amazing, innovative dishes to be enjoyed and shared with friends and loved ones. We now have an AA rosette for 2023/2024 to highlight his and the teams amazing work. We are located on Cowcaddens Road, just around the corner from our sister restaurant, Ardnamurchan Restaurant and Bar and a stones throw from the theatre royal. Perfect for a meal before a show. Relax in our modern, airy restaurant and watch the chefs work in the open kitchen. Our signature dish is our crab doughnut, you'll be amazed!

My wife and I have been wanting to try Kelp for sometime. My wife passes it on her way home from work and she says it's always really busy. We booked for lunch and there were a few other people in, the atmosphere was inviting and convivial. Waitress was very welcoming and a credit to the restaurant.

I had a delectable and pleasant dinner. Service was attentive but not excessively so. The filet of sole was perfect. Next time i am in Glascow I will go there.

Not a great dining experience. Lamb was 16 pounds for 2 small bite sized pieces. Staff a bit cool and distant. Sourdough bread was stale with the seaweed butter tasteless. V expensive for little returns.

This is my third time eating at Kelp and I couldn't recommend it more - the menu is always inventive and changing, the atmosphere is lovely, and I love that with each meal I can support Scottish products and producers. This place is such a gem for Glasgow.
