Kitchen in the Desert is a Caribbean and New American restaurant located just outside the Twentynine Palms entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. We pride ourselves in making high quality food from scratch using fresh ingredients and providing a comfortable environment to enjoy it in. We have a full bar plus beer and wine and are open nightly from 5 to 10pm. *Please be advised that all reservations are for outdoor seating, so please dress accordingly.

Our server mic was so wonderful! I would have given 5 stars, except the hostess was incredibly rude. Spoke down to us, ignored us. Noticed by everyone. Besides her, our experience was exceptional!

The ambiance is great, has a good energy! Food is tasty and served tapas style - we ordered 3 plates to share but were given them individually. A bit odd to eat meat ion its own and then get the last plate, the vegetables at the end. Service is okay !

I live in the area and love supporting my local businesses and I never actually leave a review unless it’s a good one. However I have had numerous terrible experiences here that are inexcusable. The final straw was this last Saturday. I booked a reservation for 2pm. I arrived on time, the host looked at me and ignored me several times before finally helping me. I told him I had a reservation for 2 pm (it was now 2:08) he told me the kitchen is closed now and that I should have came at 2pm. I explained that I had been here on time waiting at the host stand for someone to help me, he didn’t care so I was unable to eat there with my family who I had visiting from romania. I consistently have a terrible experience here. I will not be going back. It used to be Great though. I guess all good things come to an end.

When we arrived, they told us that the chef was not coming until 9:30, although we had made reservations for 9:00, and we were planning on going to the National Park early so our schedule was affected. However the staff really tried to set the mood. It would have been a nice offer to let us have a coffee or something as a gift. In terms of food, I am on a carnivore diet and when I asked if they would be able to serve a patty I was told that I had to by the entire menu item, so basically I would have to pay for the full meal but I would only get the meat part. Usually restaurants are good at adjusting, but this morning I didn’t feel full after breakfast. I only ate some eggs and bacon, and even though I doubled the egg portion, I still didn’t get full.

Our large party of 13 was impressed with the food and overall ambiance of the place. Service was attentive and friendly. The variety of dishes on the menu offered tasty options to vegetarians and meat eaters. We had delicious pies for dessert. Highly recommend.
