Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

We arrived early so we could have a cocktail at the bar before dinner. The bar staff completely ignored us. We were waving constantly and not one bartender made eye contact with us. One was working service bar and 3 others were I. Side bar. They weren’t pre biasing the bar or engaging with the clients. All they did was dry bar glasses. Even though we were finished our drinks and clearly needing another round we could not get there attention. When I finally got the attention of a bartender I was told that they weren’t our bartender. They cared more about drying glasses at a half empty bar on a Monday night than making sure they took care of the clients paying for drinks in front of them. Dinner was much better. We had escargot, Cesar salad, steak frites and a burger. The birder was not worth $29. Stale bun, thin dry beef patty (medium cooked but very dry) barely a smear of onion jam, wilted lettuce and terrible old slices of Roma tomatoes with a wilted kosher pickle spear. I would rather have e a great American chain burger. The chocolate Carmel torte needed a saw to cut a piece. I couldn’t get my fort through it. I asked for coffee that I didn’t receive. I messaged the restaurant in the morning throigh open table let them know we had a $100 voucher and we would t have 5 people only 4. No on responded to us. So I called three times and couldn’t not get ahold of anyone. Then when we checked in I let them know there would be 4 of us not 5 and that I had my $100 voucher the hostess said she make a note of it . They seated us at a table of 6 people and did t take the voucher off the bill. When leaving I went to the same hostess and she said well well where is your voucher. I explained that it isn’t needed that it’s noted when you make the reservation at the restaurant… she said oh well I ll the manager know. No sorry. We can adjust the bill. Just we’ll let the manager know- bye… next Very disappointed

Waste of a beautiful building… DC has an abundance of great restaurants. My husband and I love fine dining and like branching out to try new places. My husband is French and we thought we would try something we knew he would love, and we made our reservation a month in advance. We were disappointed when we were sat directly next to the kitchen door and wait station (where plates were broken, silverware was loudly put away, and the smells of the kitchen were less than appetizing). We ordered a couple cocktails, the escargot, cheese, fillet au poivre, flétan rôti, and desserts. Nothing remarkable about the food other than the fillet was fatty. This was disappointing given the restaurant has butcher shop (boucherie) in the name. The service was surprisingly great and the only part besides the building that made this dinner bearable. With so many options, don’t disappoint your date. Look in the window if you want to see the building and go to one of DC’s many other options.

My review of La Grande Boucherie would have been much better had the restaurant had more wait staff. Our poor waitress was overwhelmed, pouring water, taking drink orders, opening bottles of wine, taking food orders, trying to balance too many tables. We had a large party of 9 which added to the chaos. The food is good, the restaurant is beautiful. The restaurant just needs more staff.

My wife and I celebrated her birthday there, it was phenomenal. It began with our waitress Bolade who wad magnificent and extended to everyone we met. It extended all the way up to the general manager Kerry Macphail, who came out to personally greet and acknowledge us on this momentous occasion. The ambiance and food quality are exceptional and add to the refinement and elegance of the entire experience. For a great meal, wonderful company and a truly memorable experience (aside from being the lucky husband), you must check out La Grande Boucherie, it is unforgettable.

Our dining experience was excellent. We were promptly shown to our table. Restaurant was quite full but there was more than adequate spacing between tables. The wine was very good and the meals were outstanding. The beef melted in my mouth. The only regret is that they had run out of chocolate mousse. We'll go back!

Had a wonderful time, the waiter was fantastic. Made chocolate milk for my daughter at the table. She loved the show. Food was great, music choice was superb “Frank Sinatra and like Christmas music. Decorations were beautiful and tasteful.

A beautiful lunch was had here to celebrate my daughter’s 8th birthday before attending the Nutcracker. We were blown away by the ambience and amazing decorations when we entered. The wait staff was incredible. A hostess gave my daughter an ornament as a birthday gift and brought her a fabulous birthday dessert. We loved it!

We went to La Grande Boucherie in DC for brunch in December. Wonderfully decorated for the holidays. The food was great and we had an awesome server. Couldn’t have asked for a better Sunday afternoon
