Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

I’ve been to this restaurant twice now, and the food is absolutely terrible. It’s clear they prioritize the ambiance over the quality of the food. During my last visit yesterday , they served me a raw steak. When I asked them to cook it more, they did, but it ended up tasting unbearable. I even felt sick afterward. I cannot recommend eating here. If you do visit, stick to the bar and just enjoy the decor. Honestly, if I could, I’d give this place less than 0 star.

They need to keep up with their wine inventory if they gonna offer discounts. They didn’t have wines we tried to order two times.

Ambiance and décor for the holidays was amazing however, table settings are super small/tight if you are with a party of 2! Service was brutal, did not order entrée until over an hour of being sat (party of 2) We asked for a sommelier with questions for French wines, after about an hour, they never came to our table and I let the server know dont worry about it and we just ordered the bottle of the first glass of wine we had upon seating. Would have expected some urgency with an apology and getting a sommelier to the table immediately after being notified they never came. Also realized after, I do not believe the bottle of wine was discounted with the 50% promotion they have for Sun-Thurs. Starter was brought to the table and they said, scallops? which we did not order so we said not ours! It was actually the escargot, which we did order so they had to send a new order because it was dropped at another table. We were eating dessert and similar situation happens where they had a salad and asked if it was for our table.... no, we are done eating and had dessert on the table. The food was average at best. We had the steak frites, which did not have much flavor and the burger which only half of it was eaten. Great for the ambiance and holiday setting, other than that, would not come back.

Went for friends Christmas dinner and it was great! Steak frites cooked perfectly, cheese board was excellent, crème brûlée dessert was tasty.

This food is tragic and the prices are outrageous. I would gladly pay these food prices if the food has been good, but Trader Joe’s microwaveable dinners have more flavor. The drinks are okay. The service was wonderful and it is a beautiful building. I feel like the ownership knows this and therefore the food is lacking.

The ambience was lovely, and the main courses were tasty. The French onion soups were undercooked-only lukewarm and the cheese wasn’t fully melted. The drinks were great but very slow to come out. The last 45 minutes we were there, the service was practically nonexistent. We were so antsy to leave, I just signed the check without studying it. Upon review this morning , I saw we were double charged for an expensive bottle of wine. I called the restaurant, and instead of an immediate apology and refund, I was told to follow up by email. Not the expected level of service for the price point.

Lovely holiday experience, decorations, holiday music were wonderful. Classic French cuisine, well done. As in classic French style, the wait staff was not overly friendly. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I enjoyed the true to French paletted menu. The drinks were delicious. I enjoyed the La Vie en Rose cocktail with petit basque cheese and jambon blanque maison as an hors d’oeuvre. For the main course, I selected the boeuf bourguignon. It was a little cold. But, once I saw/tasted my friend’s fettuccine bolognese (w/ veal), I decided to have the fettuccine. It was soooo good. And to finish, my friend got the creme brulee and I got the basque cheesecake with caramel and passion fruit

From the moment I stepped into La Grande Boucherie I felt welcomed. The ambiance of the restaurant is so enchanting from the decor to the professionalism of the staff. I arrived alone waiting for the rest of my party to join and still felt attended to and was sat. Our server, Christopher immediately greeting me with water and recommendations of the menu. Once my friend joined me my experience really took off. I was guided through the menu with the best cocktails and appetizers to start. We went with the bottomless bubbles . After the first mimosa you could tell the juice was fresh and the champagne crisp. We followed with a lobster bisque that you could tell upon the first spoonful it was full of marinated seafood stock flavor. The bread that they brought to the table with salted butter complimented it so well as if it was necessary considering the soup came with a fresh croissant . I’ll probably be dreaming of the soup tomorrow. We enjoyed the Wagyu Carpaccio which was well balanced with the rich marble of the wagyu and the saltiness of the capers on the plate. I was reaching a point of fullness and then my entree came out. I opted for a classic, Eggs Benedict, not being a huge fan of eggs I appreciate a well crafted Hollandaise, and that is exactly what I got. The English muffin tasted fresh and the Canadian bacon thinly sliced with the perfect balance of saltiness to pair with the best poarched egg. We finished our meal with a Lemon Sorbet unable to fully commit to a big dessert but even the simplicity of the 3 scoops absolutely exceeded my expectations. A perfect finisher to a meal I’ll probably be talking about for the next few weeks. I am so excited to continue to recommend this restaurant to my friends and traveling family. A truly picturesque experience where I don’t have to worry about the service or the food matching the high standards of what is seen online. They truly deliver.
