At La Marchande, Chef John Fraser revitalizes the French chophouse, spotlighting seasonal ingredients and a fresh approach to steakhouse dining. The café-inspired dining room and casual bar setting provide unique environments for both formal meals and relaxed drinks.

Chef John presents innovative dishes like "French Onion Dumplings" and seared "Bone Marrow," served in a freshly baked baguette. The menu features a variety of simply prepared proteins, including "Aged Long Island Duck" and "Broiled Prawns" with bouillabaisse maître d butter. Vegetarian options like "Hen of The Woods Steak" and "Cauliflower Tarte Tatin" showcase Chef John's creative flair.

Led by Beverage Director Amy Racine, La Marchande's French-focused wine list and selection of vermouths complement the steakhouse fare. The bar offers a chic setting for enjoying cocktails, shellfish towers, and bar bites.

We were very disappointed in our dining experience. We were seated an hour past our reservation time, and while we were waiting for our table, we had to go and find staff to get updates about the status of our table. We were not able to order food while we were waiting and servers were ignoring us while we waited at the bar. Once we sat down, service was slow, the food was lukewarm and there was no acknowledgment of any issues from any member of staff. Our reservation was at 8pm and we didn’t get dinner until 10:45 pm. We had ordered desert, but ended up taking it to go because everything was taking so long. I will not be dining here again and will be encouraging others to avoid.

First, thank you to the staff for working on Thanksgiving, however, if it was decided by the establishment to do business on Thanksgiving then policies should be observed. The point of having a reservation is to be seated at the designated time - we were seated 32 minutes over our reservation time. While the staff was trying their best to be friendly, it did not resonate well. The environment was stuffy and hot. Our order was straightforward as it was off the set menu, unfortunately one of the main dishes was wrong, but it was promptly addressed by our server. The experience overall was unpleasant from the time we checked in to exiting the establishment. NYC is a culinary city with unlimited selection. This will be our first and last time. In future, when planning to open for Thanksgiving, perhaps do not overbook reservations.

We had never been there but took a chance on booking for Thanksgiving .because the menu looked good. From the moment we arrived. It was wonderful. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The dining room was elegant and comfortable. And the food!!!! Try one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Each course was delicious. From the vegetarian dumplings, the bread, the cauliflower Tartarin, pumpkin sticky toffee pudding, and more, flavors were exquisite, delicate, original. Every table took home doggie bags so as not to miss a bite. Outstanding!

Beautiful room. Absolutely outstanding service! We were celebrating a birthday, and they made it very special. The food was mixed. LOVED the pull apart bread and the beet and caesar salads. Two of our party had beef main dishes, and they were below the quality we expected for the prices. The salmon was delicious. Wonderful chocolate lava cake. Overall, the attentive staff, lovely setting, and mostly excellent food made for a fine evening.

We ordered the Milk bread appetizer. It was very salty. The cream in the center of the bread really had little taste. The butternut squash rigatoni was very dry. The flavor not good. It didn’t seem freshly cooked. The mashed potatoes were literally covered in so much butter and pesto. It seems they use butter and salt overly to flavor there foods. The pasta was definitely not freshly cooked. It was a disappointing meal. Staff were attentive.

A deserted restaurant even though I had trouble getting a reservation. They seemed surprised to see us when we arrived at 9:30pm. Service was good. Appetizer was very good. Main fish courses were disappointing- over cooked and pretty tasteless.
