It’s a wonderful restaurant but sitting so close to to the next table is not my favorite.

I usually don’t leave reviews because everyone’s taste buds are different. We also have different expectations when it comes to food styles. But since this is a famous chef’s restaurant, I felt like I should give it a try. I’ve also visited his previous restaurant in San Diego (Juniper & Ivy), which we thought was probably one of the best meals we’ve ever had. They start you off with a glass of complimentary Prosecco, which is a nice touch. We started off with a glass of Post & Beam Cabernet, and the manager (or sommelier) came by and asked how we were enjoying the Chianti. SMH! We started our meals with the polpette (meatballs). They were a bit overcooked (crispy on top), and the sauce was a bit too sweet. Next, we shared the Rigatoni La Zozzona. The guancale gave it a great smoky flavor, but it wasn’t anything special. Especially not Next Level or Top Chef standards. The star of the night was the swordfish. I usually don’t order swordfish at restaurants because they can always become very dry. This had the bone in and it was a very thick cut. It was extremely moist and the tomato/green olives sauce was amazing. We also shared a side of carrots which were cooked perfectly and delicious with the hazelnuts, Calabrian honey, and pesto. I usually wouldn’t criticize the uniform, but once my girlfriend said it reminded her of Disney World restaurant style uniforms, I couldn’t agree more. All they were missing was name tags with which country they were from. I want to see Mr. Blias succeed, but at this point, he’s stuck on the middle level.

La Zozzona is so amazing! Chef Richard is as humble and kind as he is talented! The food is amazing, the space is beautiful and you’re at a resort so even if you’re local you feel like you’re on vacation! Don’t their signature rigatoni was my favorite, but literally every dish was amazing! Can’t wait to go back!

The hotel renovation looks great and so does the restaurant. Great beverage selection and service was solid. Wine list by the glass was very good. Friend ordered the Amalfi margarita, and the first one was spot on. The 2nd one was made by a different bartender, looked different, tasted different, and even have a different fruit garnish. Cacio y pepe came out room temperature, seasoning seemed a bit off, not sure if that was due to the temperature. The Rigatoni Zazzona was really good and was hot. The Foccacia bread was also pretty solid. I ordered the pancetta filet and thought it was spot on but my friend ordered the Ribeye that was a special, and it was disappointing to look at and taste wise. We both ordered the affogato and it was the most disappointing affogato that I've ever had, and I've had over 100. Smallest scoop of ice cream possible and it had ice chips in it. I expected to be a little more wow'd considering the celebrity chef associated w/ the restaurant along w/ the social media promotion. I left feeling like there are some wrinkles to work out. If things remain the same, hotel guests will be okay w/ the food, but if they want to attract Scottsdale locals, they will need to elevate their game to keep up w/ the competition.

Hi Ty, Thank you for your review! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed our beverage offerings, and I apologize for the inconsistencies between the two margaritas. I'll be sure to share this feedback with my bar team so they can improve their execution of our menu. I really appreciate your honest feedback both good and bad about the culinary offerings. As a new restaurant guest feedback like this is invaluable to our growth and development, and we'll make sure to take these notes into consideration when tweaking our selections. I hope you decide to try us out again in the future so we can show you how we've improved based off of your feedback. Cheers! Zach McGrath General Manager

We saw this restaurant on Instagram, and it looked amazing, so we gave it a try. **Pros:** The service was amazing; we loved our servers, who went above and beyond to make our time enjoyable. The ambiance was wonderful and romantic—it was one of our best date nights in a while because of that. Some of the food was outstanding. The burrata was delicious, although you should ask for extra bread or save your focaccia for it. The focaccia was amazing as well, and the cannoli were to die for. **Cons:** My boyfriend's (expensive) veal dish had burnt breading on it. The glazed carrots (one of my favorite side dishes) were burnt so badly that half of the carrot dissolved like ash in my mouth. The rigatoni I saw on Instagram didn't look anything like the Instagram reel and tasted... okay, but nothing special. For the price of the dinner, I expected to be wowed by both the food and the environment, but unfortunately, the food was just okay. Better date nights elsewhere—we won't be back.
