L'APPART by AIR FOOD is above all two passionate visionaries, Marc and Thierry. They have come from two completely different paths.
One was a contractor in logistics the other a chef in London and Paris.
What they both have in common besides the love of good food is the love of street culture. Years ago they met in Paris during a regular sale of shoes at the Place de la République…
From this meeting, the pair launched into a collaboration of sharing their passion for food. They started with pop-up restaurants with the aim of offering gastronomic street food to all, from a range of mixed recipes from different cultures and from gastronomic food to street food. Then, they had a brainwave…. Resulting in to transforming their Pop-ups into a real restaurant in downtown LA. From PARIS to LA come and travel with us.

Fabulous restaurant. Would go there again in a heartbeat. It seems like a hidden gem, and perhaps the owners like it that way. I like it that way. There are so many DTLA restaurants that get attention because of things other than what I think is most important, e.g. the views, the location, etc. L'Appart gets the essential things right: the food is delicious, the service is personal and from the owner(s) themselves, and the ambience is on point. The fact that it is so hidden makes it special. If you go on a date here, you should appreciate the person who chose the place. It shows taste.

L'APPART by Air Food is simply my favorite French restaurant in Los Angeles. I do also like Figaro Bistrot which I have been going for years... but Figarot offers a wider and broader French bistrot type dishes. Leaning more toward haunt cuisine, L'APPART offers more selected and finer French dishes at a reasonable price. For example, I ordered the Raclette last night which I've never had. It's essentially a Swiss / French dish of melted cheese on potatoes paired with charcuterie. If you like French food, I highly recommend you try L'APPART.

Good was amazing. Really enjoyed the Onion and Shallot Soup. For dessert we had the apple tart. Wonderful balance of sweet and nutty flavors. Would definitely come again!

L’appart and Garçons is a jewel in DTLA. The food has unique flavors that go beyond the normal or classic French cuisine. The wine selection , also is a unique approach versus having traditional old world. Delicious.

The escargot, the beef bourguignon , and the duck leg confit were all excellent. The frisée salad is also delicious and has a fantastic dressing. The lavender earl grey tea is really fantastic.

A hidden gem in downtown LA. The service is warm, attentive, and casual. The food and wine selections are outstanding. We highly recommend the snails, rib eye for two, and the pear tart.

My Beef Bourguignon was cold and really bland. I was disappointed in it. Not even one pearl onion. I loved the wine and the cheese plate was ok. But I like the ambience and enjoyed two glasses of wine. I should have complained more but did not want to harm my own mood.

Last night, my wife and I had an unforgettable dining experience at L’Appart, a contemporary French restaurant that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we stepped in, we were captivated by the ambiance. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between modern sophistication and cozy warmth, creating an ideal setting for a special evening. Dim lighting, soft music, and elegant décor made it feel like an intimate escape, perfect for a romantic night out. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely passionate about the dishes being served. Every course arrived at just the right time, and we never felt rushed. Now, onto the food—what a revelation! We started with the escargot Burgundy, and it was nothing short of divine. Each tender bite was packed with garlicky, buttery goodness, a perfect balance of richness and earthiness. It was easily one of the best takes on escargot we’ve had. For our main, we decided to try something a little unconventional for a French restaurant—their four-cheese pizza. It may sound simple, but it was a masterpiece in its own right. The crust was thin and crispy, while the combination of cheeses melted into a creamy, decadent blend of flavors that we couldn’t get enough of. Every bite had the perfect amount of tang, richness, and that slight char from the oven. By the end of the meal, we were completely satisfied but already planning our return. They delivered on every front—from atmosphere to service, and most importantly, the incredible food. It was an evening to remember, and I can’t recommend it highly enough for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience.

We had a lovely meal (#datenight) and it was made even more special with the impeccable service and kindness of our server Lou! She transported us to Paris by making wonderful suggestions and we even got to practice our French! She is the hardest worker there and truly cared about making our experience grand. Thank you, Lou and to all the team. The bouef bourguignon (sp?) is absolutely divine!
