It is always a wonderful experience, and this time did not disappoint. The manager went out of his way to be accommodating, and we so appreciated it. It was a special occasion and everything was just perfect - food, service, ambience! Thank you !

I want to start off with saying the food was absolutely delicious. My party and I did not have one complaint about the food. I’m not sure if maybe we caught them on an off night with their service, but when we arrived and checked in with the hostess she sat us immediately (she was very sweet), the lack of service started once we sat and waited for a Server to attend to us. We were seated for nearly 10 minutes (the busser was the first person to attend to us and brought us water) until a server finally came to get a drink order. We ordered drinks and we also ordered our appetizers as well, there were a few items our server was going back and forth with the kitchen about as they told her things were sold out. Once we ordered our main courses and they were brought out to us, our server checked on us a few times but from there we never saw her for the rest of our time there. The busser was extremely attentive to us. He cleared our table and then another male server attended to us and dropped the dessert menus. We made our reservation specifically with a note that mentioned we were celebrating a special birthday, so we were expecting a candle on the dessert we ordered which we did not get, shortly after we had order, the dessert came out and placed in-front of us. No candle and no celebration. We had to call another server who was nearby and asked her if she could please bring us a candle so we could properly celebrate our friend. We understand that they were getting ready to close up and go home, but for this establishment to be considered a “fine dining” restaurant the service definitely lacked in that department.

My 30 year love affair continues... I first dined at Le Colonial in NYC in 1995 when I was 27.. I was a budding foodie, and the amazing flavors of the food combined with the rich and exotic atmosphere left an unforgettable impression. It was a true WOW moment in my eating diary. All these years laters I find myself wedding dress shopping with my 27yo daughter in Chicago and see that Le Colonial is here and near our hotel. She's spent time in Vietnam and Asia, and has a much more developed palate than me, so I questioned whether or experience would be as memorable as the one I'd had all those years ago. It absolutely was. Every bite, every sip, every interaction with the staff was perfect. while the ambience took us to a place much further away than the chilly and windy streets of May in Chicago. It was the perfect meal to begin a very special trip, and now part of a memory that she and I will carry together. Thank you, Le Colonial, for giving us that special time together.

The food was good, but nothing spectacular given the price point. Beautiful restaurant and good drinks. Service was seriously lacking. Our waiter barely talked to us, only interacted with us 3 times. Once to ask if we wanted bottled or tap water, second time to take drinks, and 3 to order food. Otherwise didn’t explain the menu or tell us about any possible specials. Then never checked on us again to even ask if we were happy with the food or if we needed anything. It was very disappointing given the price point and ambiance they are trying to portray.

Overall, a pleasant experience: Everything was very tasty: the pickled veggies, the chilled veggie rolls and the chicken and cabbage salad (I had added jasmine rice to it). Service was very attentive and friendly. The only thing that caused me stress was the 1 and 3/4 hours seating time limit (for 1-2 people). Therefore, I didn't order any dessert because my time was up. I wasn't told so, but I felt under pressure. That's a pity because I would have liked to try a dessert.

Not as good as it used to be. Dinner was fine, just nothing special for the price. We ordered a number of small plates and large plates to share, including their market price signature dish and several items that the server described as customer favorites. The food was fine -- nothing wrong with it -- just nothing special or memorable, especially for the price. If you do go here, go on a summer evening and request a seat outdoors. Lovely balcony.

Plenty of open seating on the veranda but we were placed right next to a party do 4. Literally 2 feet away. We had to ask the hostess for another seat. Server got entree wrong for main course. Had sides before Entree. Server recommended a bottle of wine that wasn’t available. Food was excellent and ambiance was incredible. It just missed the mark on service for a meal experience that was close to $500.
