About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
Le Parisien is the go-to neighborhood bistrot for Murray Hill, offering classic French food like steak frites, escargots and moules marinieres, paired with a well-edited list of french wines.
Chef Johnathan Masse brings his expert knowledge of comfort food, having most recently served as sous chef at the Waverly Inn, and also for Chef Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto. Along with owner Christian Merand, formerly of Jean-Claude in Soho, they have created a restaurant that focuses on serving consistently great traditional food with a lively and unmistakeably French atmosphere.

Also open daily for lunch and brunch on weekends.

Wonderful food and staff, authentic French, bread amazing. Duck confit best ever had in states! But unexpected extra charges on the bill - took a lot of the sparkle out of the experience.

We were looking for a solid, not-trendy restaurant to take out of town friends to that was walking distance from Grand Central. Le Parisien fit the bill. We sat inside, it's small but we loved the cozy vibe and jazz over the speakers. We were 5, which is about the biggest party I would recommend here. Ordered special beet salad plus foie gras as appetizers, and both were very good. My confit was the best I've ever had - falling off the bone, crispy skin, on a traditional bed of crispy potatoes and frisee. The fish special was likewise fantastic and everyone was very happy with their food. Wine list is well thought out and both food and drink prices are quite reasonable for midtown NYC. My only small complaint is that we felt rushed. I assume given the small size they're trying to turn the tables. Silver lining, since we wanted to linger over coffee and conversation we decided to leave and wander around the neighborhood in search of a dessert place, which made for a lovely end to a spring evening.

Lots of hustle and bustle at this French-style Bistro. We all loved our meals--Steak Frites, Mushroom Omelet and the ala carte chicken dish. Friendly efficient service. It seemed like a regular crowd goes there. The overall vibe was people eating, chatting, laughing and generally having a wonderful time. I'll be back soon!

Le Parisien is a great local french bistro and every meal has been delicious and the service is quick and friendly. However it’s the only french restaurant that I know where I cant order a glass of champagne before dinner. And the prosecco on the menu isn’t Champagne.

Le Parisien is an intimate bistrot delivering an authentic and unpretentious food experience. The menu offered favorites from France which were well prepared and well served. The overall service was friendly and attentive with a good bit of French flair. Overall very fair pricing and value. Highly recommended.
