From the OpenTable editors: When Le Pigeon opened in 2006, it put Portland on the culinary map. The best seats in the intimate, brick-walled dining room are at the chef’s counter, where you’ll get a front row view of multi-James Beard Award-winner Gabriel Rucker’s dazzling, French-forward dishes. Cap the evening with playful desserts that could include foie gras profiteroles or a glass from the luscious Oregon- and French-centric wine list.

Server was in a hurry to take our order for the four of us, placed an order of cocktails a bottle of white wine and a bottle of red wine. He came to the table with two glasses (not 8). Amuse Bouche showed up, no cocktails or wine yet. Amuse Bouche was cold and bland. White wine arrived, I asked for two more glasses. Cocktails arrived along with the first course…beef carpaccio but no red wine yet. Asked again for the red wine and four more glasses. The red wine showed up after we had eaten our beef. I would go on but the service never got better and the food was disappointing as well. I expected much more from a French restaurant and a bill north of $1000.

What an experience! The food was unique and well designed. Each dish had a great flavor. We loved every dish! The wine pairing was well thought out and each went well with the corresponding dish. The staff was very knowledgeable and very friendly. Great venue for food lovers and for a special occasion.

Expensive but nice experience overall. Food was mostly tasty (lobster pierogi dough was too tough) and well done. We shared the extra dish of foie. quantity was about right. Chose the "reserve" wine pairing, which was okay but underwhelming, were served 5 whites: bubble / vermint / semillon / riesling / greuner, 1 Burg pinot (non grand / premier cru). Seating somewhat close along wall.

Everything was wonderful!! My only complaint is the value for what you got. Very small portions, very good. I just wish it wasn’t a prefix menu and so expensive.

Thank you to everyone at Le Pigeon for a wonderful night. We were given the best seats in the house to celebrate my mother's birthday, and everyone on staff made the night special for her, especially Nadia and Sean. They prepared an amazing meal, and delightful conversation. The wine pairings were also lovely. Always an amazing experience and wonderful new culinary delights to try.

Wonderful food and service! The pacing of the food was perfect. A standout was the pastrami fish.

We’ve dined all over the US and in Europe and this was hands down the most delicious and unique tasting experiences. So many memories made.

Always such a treat. This is Portland's best French restaurant, hands down. Dishes are made with flair, impeccable technique, and always delicious farm to table cooking. That said we did think the vegetarian tasting menu was the stronger of the two; several of the protein dishes were a little underwhelming (e.g. beef carpaccio). We opted to forgo the optional sixth course of each menu; portions are very generous, you will not leave hungry... Btw, don't skimp on the wine pairings! The reserve pairing is a splurge but well worth it. And perhaps best of all, the flawless service and pacing (hat tip: Chris). Just a delightful meal, start to finish. Thank you.
