Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

    People with more money than sense tend to come to restaurants like this for high decibel socialization rather than good food. I could barely hear the waiter. Maybe that's why the waiter failed to bring the wine I ordered.

    The food was excellent, the service was great and the staff were wonderful. Axel was our server and while he was busy running the bar room, he did make the time to explain the food preparation and helped in the decision making of the Prix Fix menu. Our meal made us feel good about our choices and would recommend this restaurant.

    Two of us had the soup of the day and fish of the day. It was well prepared and very tasty. My husband had the salmon and thought that it was outstanding. We ate at another well know restaurant in Williamsburg the week before and he thought that this was equal to the dish he had there and for much better value. We were very happy overall.

    Absolutely lovely evening.. Ambiance, service, courtesy,...and then.. the food! Creative and traditional French dishes. Excellent flavors and presentation. Comprehensive wine choices reasonably priced. Pastry chef handled a request for special take home items with ease and flair. Kudos for the Coquilles, best I have had since St Malo, and the Souffle. Ever so light. How lovely! Make a reservation now!

    Steak could have used a little more seasoning. Even though the soufflé was excellent it was not a Grand Marnier soufflé as advertised. Charles is a very good server. Courses were paced nicely.

    We love Le Yaca and have visited many times in the past. Today we went to celebrate our daughter's 22nd birthday and unfortunately the service was subpar today and it was unfortunate all the way around. Hoping for a better experience for our next visit.
