We visited Lira a month ago and it was exceptional! However, this time we visited the steak was $15 more and they got rid of the sunchoke veloute…and it was over priced for sure for Campbell CA. The Death by Chocolate was very over hyped also…dry and not what was expected. It’s a little disappointing as this restaurant was both hyped up and better the first time around. I hope it’s not the end….

Presentation across all our dishes was quite nice, but both the scallops and duck were under seasoned. Duck was also overcooked. My dessert also had a very odd flavor in a couple bites. But they did light it on fire so that was fun. Wife had the ricotta gnocchi (gnudi) which she quite liked. Over all pretty underwhelming sadly. We had high expectations but this meal really missed the mark. We may give it another try in the future.

As fans of Next Level Chef and Chef Tucker, we were thrilled to learn she opened a restaurant in the South Bay, instead of San Francisco. We booked our reservation a month in advance to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This is in the location of the former Flights. It's not a very large restaurant but had a nice intimate feel while still full of energy. The bar was full of patrons. The hosts were friendly and our server was detail oriented and took good care of us and even gave us a half glass of champagne each for our anniversary. Chef Tucker came out of the kitchen a couple times and we saw her chatting with several guests. The food was very good. I enjoyed my shrimp salad and lamb shank entree. My favorite part of the entree was the corn puree. I'm not a huge corn person but it was such a compliment to the lamb. My husband had the scallops and hummus and then the short rib. The scallops were perfectly cooked. The short rib was delicious. Like a lot of higher end restaurants the portions were smaller so I didn't feel as satisfied from that respect for the price, but I understand what I was paying for. Great job Chef Tucker!

Portions could be bigger. We had to order another entree because we were not full.

Very over priced for portions that were offered. $60 for beef short rib, yes one rib cut in half doesn’t cut it. No sides on offer either which was strange. Over bearing service, consistently interrupted by server to the point of irritation.

Really, REALLY disappointed with the food. We had high expectations for this place especially given the rating on most social media outlets but after 7 dishes & only 1 that was worth talking about, (the scallops,) we unfortunately had to complain once our dessert sunk & became the cherry on top. We started out with the shishito peppers, so bland and boring i don’t think any flavor was added outside of the toasted sesame seeds and occasional flakes of salt. We were then very intrigued when the hamachi crudo became our centerpiece. It was a stunning display of color and art but it was underwhelming with too much coconut cream and not enough distinct characteristics that made it stand out from other crudos we have had from similarly priced restaurants. We were luckily taken back into excitement when the famous scallops landed in front of us. That was our wow moment in our nearly 2 hour dinner experience and the only moment we actually felt satisfied with the textures, flavors and consistency. They were perfectly cooked as they should be for a nearly $50, five scallop on hummus entree. Next, we were served the gnocchi which we were told were pillowy and fabulous. Pillowy would have been nice but instead they were soggy and over cooked. Barely pressing one down created an almost mashed potato texture whereby you wouldn’t be able to tell if this were a pasta or a buttery mashed potato ball. Lastly for the main course we had an over cooked, dry braised short rib that instead of falling apart with a fork, needed to be cut with a knife and had just enough sauce to give one bite a little more flavor but not add enough moisture to get the rest down. In fact, my hungry friends didn’t want anymore even when the two little chunks cost nearly $70. To top off our night we had to give dessert a try. We went for the $20 olive cake & the $40 “death by chocolate” cake. No pun intended with the chocolate cake… it was the death of us and we finally complained. (More on Google reviews)
