Before the James Beard Award and the Gourmet Magazine review, Lotus of Siam was a small little hole in the wall located in Commercial Center in Las Vegas. November 1999 was the month Chef Saipin and her husband Bill took over Lotus of Siam. Since then, Thai food became an adventure for those willing to step out of their comfort zones for Asian Cuisine. Chef Saipin’s distinct cooking has been passed down from generation to generation, from both her grandmothers and her husband’s grandmothers. Her northern style cooking has opened America into the “Northern” world of Thailand, away from the Bangkok style of sweet and tang. The northern menu consists of hearty herbs and spices, along with Thai style stews and coconut-less curries. Through her set menus, our guests can dine and enjoy recipes from over 100 years in the Chutima family.

Excellent experience overall, although be sure to clarify pricing. Open Table indication that this restaurant is under $30 is inaccurate. We were surprised with market fish snapper being $99 and then being charged extra for rice when told it came with the dish.

We paid a total of $60 (including tax and tip) for 2 items, the lollipop wings and a small seafood combination Thai chili dish. The taste was authentic but not “wow, amazing”. We left feeling not full after spending $60 on dinner for two. Went somewhere else for dessert.

Sublime dining experience, again! This time, I ordered the grilled salmon and steak, plus just one noodle dish. Never tried the fried glass noodles, and they are amazing. As always every dish was laden with greens and fresh herbs. Unexpectedly and outrageously outstanding this time were the crispy rice with sashimi, and the brown rice! So refreshing to have a good atmosphere for conversation, with quiet, calming music and attentive, engaging service.

We couldn’t have been happier for our first experience. The staff were all so kind and thoughtful. We had questions and they were very patient with us and also made recommendations. All our choices were perfect and tasted so amazing. We will definitely return when we return to Las Vegas.

Incredible Thai food served by an attentive flawless staff. Great for family and friends - order and share! I’ve lived in Asia and eaten in communities with vibrant Thai cuisine and for overall variety, flavor, and heat, nowhere better. Deanna (sp?) our server was an encyclopedia of knowledge and taste and her heat (spice) recommendations were flawless. Can’t wait to come back!
