We go for the raw and fried oysters at Happy Hour. They are typically very fresh and plump versus the pinkie-sized oysters that raw bars have been serving other places. The one thing we were taken by surprise by -- and in past visits over the years Luke's has NEVER done this -- was after checking us out at the table with one of those hand-held credit card readers that prints a receipt right then and there, we appropriately chose the 20% tip option that was displayed. Shouldn't have been a problem right? Except management now has the credit card charge units offer the 3 tip options NOT on what you paid at Happy Hour, i.e. 50% off oysters and drinks for a 3 hour period, but on what the 100% charge would have been! Our fault for not catching the slick maneuver from what we were charged to what we would have been charged if it were not Happy Hour. Yes, it's a bit disingenuous. Luke is taking great care of their wait staff -- at their customers' expense -- but at far more than we thought and Luke totally knows what they're doing. Instead of 20%, we ended up paying a tip at 36.6% -- not what we intended nor what anyone deserved. Incidentally, the table next to us (a couple of Philadelphia) finished up at the same time and came to the same realization, again, only after they selected the 20% option and thinking it was 20% of what they were charged. In addition there is a 10.7% sales tax plus another 3% for a so-called "administrative fee" tacked on. Be vigilant and inspect your bill carefully. We ate at Luke the last time we were in NOLA, enjoyed it and they did not pull this stunt so either new management figured this out or old management decided to do something new to boost income. Advice: Go back to legitimately and accurately charging people for whatever price they were billed otherwise if you can't afford Happy Hour discounts, don't offer them. I wonder if AMEX, VISA and Mastercard know Luke is doing this?

First time in NOLA-recommended by friend. Could not have been happier with our meal! Started w the brussel sprouts & blue crab fingers apps…SO many levels of flavors! Great call from attentive and friendly waitress recommendation of focaccia on the side:) We had steak frites / trout/ pompano entrees and all of us really enjoyed! No room for dessert:( Would return in a heartbeat!

The noise level was lively yet not overwhelming or loud. There was an ambiance of families reuniting and reminiscing, as well as couples and friends enjoying a meal together before heading out for the evening. The waitstaff were courteous, well-informed, and attentive to their areas. The menu offered a wide range of dishes to accommodate diverse tastes. My fried oyster salad included large pieces of bacon notably larger than typical "bacon bits" or any kind of bacon I have ever seen. For such a busy place, everything and everyone appeared to work seamlessly.

Always a top-tier establishment. Our server, Adam, a real professional, took good care of us. Food was, as always, first-rate. We never miss an opportunity to dine at Luke when in NOLA. You shouldn't miss out either. We were there for an early lunch....the fried oyster salad is one of our favorites and didn't disappoint. It was - and always is - delicious.
