    For the price the food is at best average and the ambiance poor. Have tried this restaurant 3 times over the years and am done trying.

    If you haven’t been here you really do need to try it. You can’t beat the location or the service which are both awesome. We visit at least twice per year on our annual trek to Maui. The was the second night of our two nights at Mala. Hostess, awesome. Server, awesome. Ahi bruschetta, awesome. Coconut shrimp unbelievably good. Pan seared Maui was beyond overcooked. First night the pork shank was just dry. To be fair, the sides that come with both mains were SO GOOD! Unlike most beachside restaurants this one isn’t entirely resting on location, but it’s creeping in from time to time. Starters are always on point; execution on the mains can be hit or miss which is normal from time to time, but the prices suggest more consistency is needed. Great local traffic here as well, we had some great people next to us last night with no shoes on (not pleasant when you’re paying $14 for just bread ) But hey, the people are super nice, the view rocks, and the drinks are great. Give it a shot. NOTE, don’t sit on the side, outside as there is no alcohol allowed to be served. This clearly isn’t the fault of the restaurant though.

    Amazing food. Place right on the water. You can hear the waves crashing as you eat. Very very good place to enjoy and good tranquil night and good food

    Great restaurant located right on the water. We gor lucky and were seated at tables right next to the water. It was high tide and we saw a couple of small sea turtles in the water a few feet away during our lunch! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall it was a great experience.

    The food was exotic, delicious seared ahi and my wife had a pork with a delicious sauce. Long wine list with reasonable price. Good service, we were outside with ocean view but if you are inside seat there is a lot of noise. Overall great experience.

    Wonderful as always. We never come to Maui without stopping by at least once. I am not a Bloody Mary drinker but at Mala they are spectacular.
