My wife and I went for dinner on a Thursday night. We sat in the tavern section. The atmosphere and vibe was very enjoyable. The service provided by the waitress was excellent and efficient. Where the experience came up sort was the entrees that were served. My wife and I ordered two different seafood dishes. The étouffée and the stuffed flounder were lacking the proper seasoning and lacking flavor. The dishes were ok but we had expected more after reading some of the previous reviews.

When we previously dined here we had arranged to have the Chef's Table experience. The food and wine were excellent and perfectly paired in a private room steeped in history. The very generous portions of food and wine necessitated our bringing home of the leftovers to enjoy for the next few days. On this visit we dined in the regular dining area. The staff was cheery and attentive, the food was as good as I remembered and portions were just right. Traveling from tour NYC home, we were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable pricing, which served to enhance our experience. The proximity to Gettysburg (only 15 min from the square) makes this well worth the short drive. And don't forget to talk with George, the owner and operator along with his son, who frequently visits the dining area and is glad to speak about the food and history of this location. It is an excellent local farm-to-table dining experience.

Everything, from the unique historic building to the service, was unparalleled. Our party of four ranged in age from 16 to 95 with all diners giving their respective meals rave reviews. The lump crab dip appetizer, she crab bisque, and crab cake entrees were of particular note and are highly recommended. When in the area, make a reservation. You won’t be disappointed.

We chose the tavern room by the fire. I was lovely. The staff was very attentive and polite. The owners checked in with us to make sure everything was great. The meal was excellent. The cheese tray was particularly good.

The crab soup was outstanding. The flounder with crab imperial was not so good— it was soupy. Salmon was great. The waitress asked if we wanted bread while we waited for our appetizer—cost a surprise $6. My gin martini was $14, but cost $4 more for Hendricks gin. I liked the place, but I don’t like being nickeled and dimed. Not sure if we will go back.
