   Very slow and inattentive service. It took 20 minutes from the time we were seating to even get water. We had to ask twice to get service at our table. The “live” music was a guy loudly playing the same 5 recordings and occasionally singing over them. He took a break to smoke some 10 yards, with the smoke wafting over the tables. Food was actually relatively good and it was disappointing to see the experience ruined by the service.

   We’ve dined at Marea at the incredibly gorgeous Joia at Iberostar 3 times already. While dining outside, we were serenaded by talented musicians and singers and dining inside was lovely and comfortable. Our first time dining at Marea, it was their first evening open to the public. We had expected minor problems due to Marea’s newness; BUT we were pleasantly surprised at the perfect service, timing and presentation of all our delicious selections. That is why we returned twice more with other friends during our lengthy stay in Paradise. Management is a key element in any restaurant and Edwin is meticulous in managing every aspect of the restaurant. His handpicked staff are beautiful and gracious.. thank you Joy and Milena! Marea’s Hand crafted drinks are amazing .. especially the Lemon drop martini and Espresso martini. Appetizers such as their Corvina Cerviche marinated with cilantro avocado crème with fried plantains, and the fried calamari are lovely and both orders were plenty to share. The shrimp tacos and the corvina tacos were very tasty with a Caribbean flair. The special, whole snapper, prepared either deep fried or grilled (we’ve had both) were perfectly prepared and accompanied by rice, beans and sweet potatoes. The flat iron steak was perfectly seasoned and medium rare as requested. The grilled corvina with Caribbean curry sauce was also amazing (and I’m not a curry fan). Lastly, the banana crème broulee and the tropical pavlova were perfect ends to our three beautiful meals at Marea. We highly recommend Marea. Tell Edwin we sent you 👍🏼 Carla & Bert DiOrio

   Beautiful outdoor dining part of a new sleek modern hotel. The service was good; the menu is eclectic and creative but the dishes we had were not to our liking.

   This is a new restaurant at the iberostar and a beautiful setting outside and in. On the outside, the wind was not significant the way the hotel is built. The food was excellent. I had the red snapper which was a whole fish served with polenta and the ceviche of shrimp . My wife had the octopus which she said was delicious.The fish tacos had a great presentation .The mixologist also served an excellent drink. Edwin the manager, made sure that everything was satisfactory.

   Food was good but the kitchen was very very slow. Place was only 1/2 full. got 2 dinners out of 6 and waited 25 minutes more to get the rest Will not be going back again. Also took 20+ minutes to get a taxi for trip home.
