Opened in 1991, Max a Mia was named “Best New Restaurant” by Connecticut Magazine in its first year, and “top-grossing restaurant in its size” by Restaurant Hospitality. The restaurant is now in the good hands of Executive Chef Bob Peterson, who has brought an exciting new energy to the restaurant.

Max A Mia is the quintessential Italian experience in the Greater Hartford area. It also continues to garner awards and accolades. Featuring a traditional Italian menu, it utilizes an authentic brick oven that produces stone pies with unmatched flavor. Traditional veal, pork and pasta dishes, as well as inventive risotto offerings, set the mood for desserts including tiramisu and white chocolate polenta cake.

    Disappointed in the service. Our waitress had 0 personality and barely said 1 word over the required 'are you all set to order'. The runner of our food gave better service and chatted with us ,asked if we needed anything, etc. We felt rushed. Food was good. No issues there. Next time we'll probably just sit at the bar.

    My cousins and I love to rotate restaurants to celebrate our birthdays. Tonight was one of our favorites. Our server was so nice; she was the perfect balance of being super attentive while also realizing we were too busy talking to one another to order immediately. Our drinks and meals were delicious, especially the Bolognese. Highly recommended!

    We went for a birthday dinner for our son. The food was top notch as always and the atmosphere was its usual vibrant level. All meals exceeded our expectations and we had solid pours of our drinks. The key detail for this visit was our waiter. He made all the difference. Very attentive service, both friendly and professional. When all else is equal, excellent service makes it memorable and enjoyable. Thanks for a great night!

    Max a Mia is consistently outstanding. Our party of 4 had different entrees and all were nicely presented and spiced. The salmon was cooked as requested and the chicken was moist and tender. My favorite is the Penne al Butero and was delicious, the pasta was cooked al dente. We enjoyed our lunch very much.

    We had a great time with friends at Max-a-Mia, our waiter was Brendan who didn’t outstanding job taken care of us. The food, the service and the overall ambience made for a great evening.
