Meat & Potatoes is a high end gastropub in downtown Pittsburgh. Its kitchen takes as its inspiration the idea of elevating comfort food to a gourmet level. Its chefs are inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients and its bar staff creates innovative cocktails and serves a range of wines by the glass and draught beers, as well. The menu at Meat & Potatoes is a new take on basic. There are classic appetizers like fried pickles, grilled bread and fried Brussels sprouts, as well as more innovative fare like fried pigs ear and buttermilk fried chicken liver. Meat & Potatoes mains include pot roast, salmon and lamb neck cassoulet.

we always love Meat & Potatoes. the food, drinks, service and ambiance are perfect for date nights and gatherings with friends and family. our go to appetizer is the bone marrow and entree is the beef wellington. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu though !

My husband and I celebrated our Valentine’s Day with dinner here last night. We have been here once before and loved it. Last night the food was not what we had experienced before. I ordered the surf and turf special. The steak didn’t have any flavor and the baked potato was the driest thing I ever had. My husband ordered the beef Wellington, which he had gotten before and it definitely was not worth the $127. We won’t be back for a long time unfortunately.

Service and ambiance were nice but food was underwhelming. Bone marrow was too sweet, papperdelle was undercooked, collards just tasted off, and steak was salty. We have had better at Meat and Potatoes and would likely return as it may have just been an off night.

I had the vegan meatloaf, and it was excellent. The coconut cake was amazing. The service was really good for a busy Friday night.

The food (Caesar salads and Beef Wellington) was delicious. Great cocktails and wine. The server was very good and treated us well, which we appreciated, but she was also very busy and so didn’t have time to check in very often. We enjoyed our experience and would definitely recommend Meat and Potatoes.

I reserved 9:15pm for a Wednesday night and stayed for almost but not yet 2 hours. The tomahawk was out and the beef Wellington was available. We got some starters, fries, and beers before the beef Wellington took about an hour to be ready. The service was good, but they were closing soon and might seem to rush the plates and bill. They are able to check pictures of ID for alcohol if guests forgot to bring the real ID. They can do Apple Pay at the machine if guests forgot to bring a card.
