We had the 5 course meal which included the vegetable gratin, salad niçoise, pork tenderloin, filet mignon, and creme brulée. Everything was cooked excellently though the flavours, however delicious they were, lacked a depth. This is not due to the restaurant, but moreover because French cuisine is not remarkably inspiring in taste. Overall we enjoyed our dining experience: the ambience, service and food went together in a pleasing package.

Five of us had dinner so we had a wide variety of the dishes. The winners: The lettuce leaf salad - thinly sliced green applies and a spectacular vinaigrette; The frisee salad - a great combination but could have used a bit more frissee, overall well balanced and delicious. French onion soup was a light version with a moderate Cheddar topped crouton vs the mounds of gooey melted gruyere that is usually used. Lamb Shank with cassoulet beans, perfectly cooked - a great combination. The Hangar steak - perfectly cooked medium rare ovals of beef on micro crispy potatoes The misses: Charred tuna - a huge portion of seared on the outside, raw in the middle with a mass of split baby potatoes topped with crispy micro-frites and a gooey caper sauce - good individual components but did not work together - way too many potatoes. The eggplant based vegetarian dish was a big miss - not much flavour. Side dishes - Gnocci, tasty but oversized served in a mini skillet - tasty with toothsome texture, about 10 large gnocci. Charred broccoli with Mornay sauce - the sauce just graced the bottom of the plate - hard to see as it was on a white dish the broccoli a little undercooked and crunchy with a delicate char. The desserts were all good - and not "make at home' dishes. The Crème brulee was solid if not very exciting, the tarte tatin - a different take on a classic with a knock out lemon sorbet and a Vacherin - meringue with crème anglaise. Overall, good to very good with a couple of misses. One annoyance was the plates were cold and the food was generally cool or lukewarm.

The appetizers and entrees were fabulous. Great flavours and simple and clean presentation. Desserts were okay but not something we would rush back for. In fairness to them they had just lost their pastry chef so once they get this position settled maybe that will change.

Had dinner here for the first time on Valentine’s Day. It was a 4 course set dinner. First 3 courses were good , last course, the beef short rib was terrible! The meat was so tough I couldn’t cut it with a knife! We sent it back and made the chef aware, he apologized... I was disappointed I would probably go back and try the menu on a regular night as I read great reviews on the regular menu and I love French food.
