Inspired by the wood-fired Robata grills of Japan, Mizu offers a refreshed take on live-fire cooking atop the Hyatt Centric in the heart of Charlotte’s SouthPark neighborhood. Opened in August of 2021 and named one of 2022's "25 Best New Restaurants" and "50 Best Restaurants" by Charlotte Magazine, the rooftop restaurant by Indigo Road Hospitality Group (IRHG) combines the traditions of ancient Japanese cooking with Southern influences and Asian flavors. The kitchen, anchored by Mizu’s own Robata grill, features a seafood-focused menu composed of wood-fired, raw, and chilled offerings.

The beverage program focuses on bright, easy-drinking libations using Japanese spirits and seasonal ingredients, complementing the cuisine and atmosphere. With a chic, minimalist design with natural elements throughout, the restaurant, named for the Japanese word for water, offers sweeping rooftop views from the patio, as well as sophisticated interiors and comfortable lounge and bar seating.

First time dining at Mizu (during Charlotte restaurant week)…and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Great table by window overlooking SouthPark. Party of four; two of us ordered from the prix fixe menu and two ordered from the regular menu. Drinks and wine were excellent. We had a few appetizers/small plates as well from the Robata grill which were large and flavorful. Our server, Resi, was friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. Her attentiveness definitely enhanced our dining experience! Highly recommended; we will come back.

The restaurant week menu was fairly good, except for the desserts. It was obvious that dessert isn’t a focus for this restaurant. The star of the meal was the sushi roll - it was delicious. Our server was very knowledgable and helpful.

I throughly enjoyed my culinary experience at Mizu. I wanted to try them during restaurant week so it was a set menu. I arrived and valet parked which complimentary. They are located on the 9th floor of the Hyatt hotel. The restaurant has a great ambiance and vibe. I had a reservation and was seated quickly. My waiter was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I started with the 9th floor sushi roll. For my entree I opted for the salmon and for dessert their version of a chocolate brownie. I drank water. The sushi was out of this world delicious. The salmon cooked to perfection with bok choy. The dessert was good. Portions not bad. My tab was about $60 with the tip. They have roof top outside seating that is nice. I highly recommend especially if you like sushi, sake, wine and great atmosphere. Great for date, girls night or quiet dinner out alone.

Fantastic experience, and Savanna was a great host with awesome recommendations. My only advice is to minimize the time between the small plates when they’re ordered together,. The food quality and price were excellent. I will definitely come back, and I highly recommend it.
