   WOW that was delicious. I booked this last minute reservation for dinner and it exceeded expectations. Pisco, ceviche, pork belly salmon - we loved it all. I told 3 friends about it the next day - cannot wait to return. Where has this place been all my life? Superb!!!

   Truly a delight dining at Mochica. Atmosphere, flavor, service…all top notch. I’m just still trying to figure out why we were charged $15.75% tax on our bill!!?? I was a bit sticker shocked even after considering 9.75% sales tax and the healthy SF tax…seems like it just didn’t add up. Loved the ceviche though.

   Tried Mochica as it is in the neighborhood and they had a special as part of Restaurant Week. Service and food were fantastic! One of our party needed a dietary accommodation, and they were graciously able to assist with that. Our server offered great recommendations. Very enjoyable evening, we will be back!

   Great vibe - lively restaurant so could get a little loud but every dish hit its mark. Ceviche chino with yucca chips was top notch. Bolitas were super tasty. My chaufa was great and wife loved her seafood paella. We were too stuffed from that to have dessert. Pisco cocktail were great accompaniments. I liked the selection of small plates, bigger plates but there's lots a stuff I want to go back to try more!

   Relatively small and relatively quiet dining area. An energetic bar scene sounded like fun for the people who were there, but did not impinge on the dining room. This was around 7:30 PM. Very good wine by the glass if the Albarino is representative. Very generous wine pour. The seared Ahi tuna and vegetarian paella were both excellent. The portions were generous. Dessert was good though I don’t remember what it was called. I don’t mean to ding it by giving it four stars for value for money, just to be clear that it’s not cheap. Two of us paid $82 each to share the two entrées, three glasses of wine and one dessert, including a 20% tip. We highly recommend it.

   Food quality was great. Cocktails were delightful. The service was good, but could’ve been better as in being friendlier. The noise level was acceptable with lots of people bustling around. Overall, a very good experience.

    Last night on Valentine’s Day, my wife and I had a 5:45 PM reservation. We have been to Mochica a number of times and have always enjoyed the experience. As we approached the entrance, I noticed the happy hour sign which ends at 6pm. When we sat down I mentioned to the server that I would like to take advantage of their happy hour and ordered two Pisco sours. He then told me that because it was Valentine’s Day that they were not offering happy hour specials. He seemed to be referring to the appetizers, so I said, well we would just like drinks. He then said he had to check with the manager to see if we could get our drinks at the happy hour price. He returned shortly after saying that there was no happy hour today because of Valentine’s Day. We went ahead and ordered our drinks, but my wife and I woke up this morning thinking that If there was no happy hour offerings, then why have a large display at the entrance mentioning the Monday-Friday happy hour. I’m sure that most restaurants look forward to Valentine’s Day being one of their busiest nights, but this practice of misleading customers put a damper on our evening.
