   Service was not good. Waitress did not check on us for quite some time after we got our food. If it was busy I would understand but we were literally the only people sitting in the back. we had 5 people at our table and they didn’t bring out everyone’s food at the same time so the food they did bring out got cold before they eventually brought out the rest. The sangria was watery. And after we were done eating they then said the restaurant does not accept visa or MasterCard they only accept American Express or cash... overall, would not return.

   The outdoor patio area is absolutely wonderful! Only negative thing about our experience is that they do not do a very good job at letting you know that you have to pay in cash or AMEX. We were not alerted to that until the bill came, and it should be the host at the front door who lets customers know that before they come in to dine

   Came in last minute today with a party of 6, a baby, and a dog. They could not have been more accommodating. Our server (I hate that I didn't get his name) was TERRIFIC. Above and beyond every step of the way. We sat outside in front, then when the sun got to be a bit much for the baby, we asked to move to the back patio and he obliged and got it all ready for us. Food was delicious. Fresh oysters, delicious calamari, pizzas were wonderful, branzino was on point. Loved the limoncello spritzer for the summer-like afternoon. We were there at 4 on a Saturday and it was quiet and comfortable. Great neighborhood place!

   Terrible experience at Monte's yesterday. I have lived in NYC for 7 years and never have I been so confused by such bad service. My partner and I had brunch at the outdoor terrace. Our server wasn't friendly or knowledgeable, that we can handle. The part that got frustrating was when my croque-madame came without the egg on top. Over the course of about 30 minutes, we asked 3 different servers about it, my partner even went inside to follow-up and still nothing ever happened. By then my food was cold, and we were really annoyed by such obnoxious and unprofessional behavior. We went to the host to pay up for what we did eat/drink and leave. He was apologetic, as was the manager (chef?) but both clearly had no idea how to manage the situation. We paid and left. The reviews of this place were good and it looks like a nice spot, so I'm very surprised. This is unfortunately by far the worst dining experience I have ever had in NYC and I have been to many places!

   If I could give zero stars I would. We waited 2hrs and never got our food. Worse experience ever. My first time walking out of a restaurant.

   Had an absolutely delightful evening in the garden at Monte's. Plenty of space between diners, fabulous heaters, delicious food and excellent service.

    The food was all delicious! Even the bread they bring you to start is excellent. Service was slow, but that was fine for a friends reunion. Overall, highly recommend Monte’s.
