   The salmon was delicious. The 8 ounce filet was thin and flat as as a pancake and unappetizing which made for a truly disappointing Christmas dinner dining experience which we were we looking forward to based on Morton’s reputation and publicity…We will not be returning. The creamed spinach was eatable. The mashed potatoes were delicious. The downtown Portland Oregon location interior needs freshening and it is cramped and on the loud side. The service was excellent.

   Restaurant was out of a lot of food options, and we were there early (2:30). I ordered an extra dirty martini and it was made as a dry martini. When I let the server know, her solve was to bring a cup of olive juice for me to pour in myself. It still tasted horrible. She noticed I wasn’t drinking it and offered to remake it (something that should have been done from the start). Three of us ordered steak and lobster with the steak cooked medium well. They all came out very well done. The server never came to ask how the food was so we all ate it because we were starving. One of the plates was missing the lemon. I will say that the lobster was very good. We ordered the king crab mash potatoes and apparently they were out because we got the au gratin potatoes instead. Again, we were not able to say anything because our server never came around until we were completely finished eating. When she did check on us, she said that they were out and the potatoes would “be on her” but when we got our check it was not deducted. I understand that they were out of a lot of food, but she could’ve came to ask what we would like instead.

   We had a very disappointing experience at Morton's. I understand that on Christmas Eve the place is busy, but there were many things that made for a poor experience that had nothing to do with being busy. Our waiter was non-existent - maybe saw him twice. Never came by to ask us if we needed our drinks refreshed or to give us an update on the 40 min it took us to get salads. My husband finally said something to the general manager who said he had noticed our table was getting ignored (there were only 3 of us) and apologized for the service. When food finally showed up my filet, which I ordered medium rare was cooked well done and also the thinnest filet I have ever seen and another steak ordered medium was rare. Again the general manager apologized and offered to recook things, but at this point we had waited so long we just dealt with it. He did take the filet off the bill at the end, which was appreciated since it was uneatable. We have a family tradition of going to Ringside for Christmas Eve, but this year we decided to change it up. Won't that mistake again. $600 for 3 people on food and service that was subpar was not the experience I had hoped for this year.

   A Non-attentive pretentious waiter pushed us to order up-charges (our party really didn’t need three types of butter sauces!) and then over-charged us on the bill even more. He took our order & then ignored us the rest of the time. Felt like because we didn’t order alcohol, or big ticket items, we weren’t worth his time. The water server was the one who cashed us out when meal was over, as our waiter was nowhere to be found. So very disappointed as well at the lack of value, the cost vs amount of food received was very much not worth it. Felt taken advantage of in a very big way.

   Everything was great from our waiter to the food to the holiday decor. It was a wonderful experience before going to the show across the street.

   Today, we went and had dinner at Morton Steak House in Portland, Oregon. Before going to the Nutcracker Ballet show. When we entered the restaurant, we were flabbergasted. Because Morton Steak House is packed. We did not see any open table. Our reservation is six o'clock and the show is at 7:30 pm. I really got worried, I told my husband, "we might get our food late and be late on the show." Anyways, we proceeded to order our food. We ordered ribeye steak, and the steak is excellent. The bake potato is to die for. The asparagus is overcooked. We enjoyed sparkling lemonade and lavander peach( non alcoholic drink). The very best with our dinner is our server. We mentioned to him that we have a show to see at 7:30pm. He made sure we got our food on time and not be late on the show. He is awesome and took care of us. He is very attentive and always checking on us. We finished our dinner on time and got to see the show with no problem. Unfortunately, I was not able to get his (server) name. MORTON STEAK HOUSE, you have one of the very best and awesome servers in your restaurant. Thank you

   The food was good, not great. I would say the same about the service. For an upscale place it is very noisy, the tables are way too close together. I want more ambience if I’m spending so much for dinner , I don’t think I will go back. I prefer Ruth Chris.
