We always enjoy Neighborhood Sushi, but this evening the experience was sub-par. We ordered mostly sushi & sashimi- which were superb! We did remember them dressing sushi & sashimi in the past, although none of our pieces were. We were quite disappointed. There is usually a warm towel, which we were not offered. We ordered a roll and a few pieces of a mushroom single piece (I’m sorry, I cannot recall the name) and it was just not appetizing at all. The roll, tempura shrimp, had an awful and negatively memorable taste. We couldn’t even eat it that roll. Highlights: sake, service, candlelight at tables, quick to be seated, they honor reservations and bring you back super quick, clean, casual/laid-back, fried ice cream, miso soup, Japanese Eggplant appetizer.

We’ve been here several times and the food and service are always good. The edamame is particularly unique, specials menu has nice variety for all parties (pork belly delicious), nigiri is high quality, tender and buttery. Wine selection nice.

Refused to make food for my 4 year old son. Does this place discriminate against children? We sat down, ordered a few items. ordered simple salmon rolls for each of my young children. 40 minutes later, they bring out the 2 rolls and one of them is completely wrong. the server told us they were "on fire" and service was terrible that day to begin with. now 40 mins later with the wrong roll out, they tell us the chef is refusing to make it for my 4 year old as requested. unbelievable! we negotiate a hand roll instead of exactly the same roll - same identical ingredients. they bring out a functional taco of 3 ingredients: seaweed with rice and slivers of salmon. My 4 yr old son with little hands is unable to handle this hand roll and it all falls apart on him. I ask for the chef to come out to take a look at the child's struggles, they refuse. they claim the head chef isn't in, only the sous vide chef is present. I ask for him to come out. they refuse. is this cowardly behavior? what a horrible experience that is non nonsensical by any measure. I could never recommend this place. Does this place discriminate against children?
