Visitors to the Las Vegas Strip in the mood for authentic southern cuisine need look no further than the just-like-Grandma-used-to-make dishes of Executive Chef Mario Nichols, a transplant from the kitchen of this restaurant's North Carolina original location. Grandma is real, too: Nellie was the grandmother of Kevin Jonas, Sr., "Papa Jonas" to the fans of his famous sons, and the founder of Nellie's. The food - including freshmade biscuits, shrimp and grits, and chicken and dumplins, shares top billing with Nellie's hospitality and decor. The gorgeous venue, located within the District of MGM Grand, opposite the Grand Garden Arena and close to Wet Republic, Top Golf and the MGM convention center, is open 7 days for lunch and dinner. Come by to watch the game on our HUGE main screen, or to listen to some live music!

Nellie’s was delicious. Great comfort food away from Home. The fried chicken, drunken greens, and the mac-n-cheese was awesome.

Fantastic service, very attentive and explained in detail answers to all our questions. Food was terrific, tasted like home, right seasoning, right flavor mixes, all around great food. Was a little noisy but to be expected as a conference was going on, but did not distract from the dinner!

We were running late for our reservation due to traffic lights out on Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd. We called, and they pushed back the reservation, but it didn't matter because the place was dead. The host wasn't particularly friendly. The waitress came and wanted to take our order the moment we sat down but didn't mention any specials. We ordered the staples: fried chicken plate plus chicken and dumplings. The fried chicken was fried hard, and the dumplings were doughy. The dumplings were priced over $30 for a medium-sized bowl at lunchtime. The sides were that the collard greens were spicy, but the mac and cheese were good. The best part of the meal was the dessert: banana pudding, but it was a small serving. The food is not authentically Southern: the pimento cheese contained jalapeños. The decor was rather boring: white walls with black and silver accents. There was some Jonas Brothers memorabilia (the restaurant is owned by their father and named for his mother) but not allot. The meal was expensive plus MGM charges $40 for parking. Overall- it's not the best experience. Yardbird at the Venetian is much better.

It started with the hostess socializing with someone as we arrived. They were looking at something on her phone. She did greet us when she looked up. Our server, whose name I cannot remember, gave very mediocre service. I waited tables for many years before changing professions and we were never seen on the restaurant floor hanging out with other employees. She was sitting down, on her phone, and barely checked on us once the food arrived. My fiance still tipped her more than 30% because, he too, worked in the service industry. Needless to say, based on the service alone I doubt we go back.

Our server Alberto was wonderful. It was a lovely night for my wife and I. They allowed us to have a great evening enjoying exquisite food, first rate service & jaw dropping entertainment. Will be back!!

The food and the entertainment were both fantastic. We had the chicken tenders with a side of mac and cheese. We were very pleased. The singer was great and we enjoyed his song selection very much. Our only complaint was that the server never came back to check on drinks after we received our food. It was t very busy, but he just wasn’t attentive. The was great though, so we would return.

After walking around CES all day, a sit down and some good food was in order. We have eaten at Nellie's before and sat at the bar. This time we got a table a little inside, around the corner from the bar. I got a salad, it was good but not memorable. My husband got the short rib, and it looked and smelled so good that the person at the next table decided to get it too. My husband was not disappointed, and said he would go back there just for the short rib. Thank you!
