We looked up the menu online and multiple entrees were listed, from steak, to fish, to chicken Alfredo, etc. We were very disappointed when we got to the restaurant and were given a menu to Jack’s Taproom, full of nothing more than bar food. We asked for the other menu, as this wasn’t what was listed online. There wasn’t one available for the night. Because our waitress was absolutely amazing and because it was prime time for dinner and getting a reservation at a different restaurant would be nearly impossible, we decided to stay. While our service was fantastic, dinner was nothing more than bar food. Burgers, pizza, and some appetizers were our only options. To say we were disappointed is a complete understatement and I honestly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It sounds like you never know what kind of meal you’re going to get. And the price tag we paid for the quality of food we got was absolutely outrageous.

We made reservation for 6 at 730. Ordered drinks initially. Slow to come, but we were not in a hurry. Big red flag .Ordered fish fry special. Mussels, daily beef cut with salad. Shrimp and grits. When refilling water, asked where last 2 meals were. Started making after much confusion. Had to be reminded to bring shrimp and grits. None of the meals were were served at the same time. Had to ask for for Pepsi twice before it came. Ketchup had to be requested twice- why do we have to ask at all? Asked for manager and Devon Corvan. He apologized. Asked us twice more how the bills would be split when we made bills clearly identified when we ordered drinks.

Went for restaurant week. Our meal was fantastic and the portions were big for the price point. The server found the right balance between checking in every now and then and giving us the space to have conversation. Everyone in our group said they would eat here again.

This quiet and elegant restaurant delivers high quality food and service, and we enjoyed every dish on the Restaurant Week menu. The value was excellent, the portions just right, and the attention to detail—including presentation and taste matching—impressive.

I recommend - but only certain items. 4star meal possible if you make the correct choices, and would be great bang for the buck. First off, we were warmly welcomed and quickly seated. Our waiter, Paul, was great. Quiet, unassuming, but perfectly attentive and ready to answer all questions. Ambiance is wonderful, cozy, quiet, easy to converse. Comfortable. The food was inconsistant from course to course, but please read on to find the perfect choices. The watercress salad was light if you're not a big eater. But the red deer meatballs were delicious and i highly recommend. The seared maple bay chicken was perfectly cooked, very moist and tender. Really liked. But the beet risotto needed more beet for taste and stronger coloring. The stag gnudi was very good as well. The eclair sounded like a sure thing for dessert choice, but was a huge disappointment. Two of us ordered, and neither had any filling! So no mousse or mocha chips, just a dry eclair shell with drizzled dark chocolate on top. IF they rectify that mistake and actually fill the pastries, they would be very good. Instead though, order the bourbon pecan shortbread bars, because they were fantastic. Based on just my meal, i would give only 3stars, but i think with the correct choices it could be a 4star, and a bargain in the $25 category. So i do recommend, but only the specific choices outlined. Great idea for a restaurant, just needs some tweaking.
