Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Olives and Oil offers a lively, casual atmosphere with "delicious" food, from meatball and ricotta pizza to homemade pasta. The cocktail menu is "eclectic," and the attentive staff ensures a "great experience." Ideal for both casual dining and special events, though noise levels can be high and service can feel rushed at times.

A noisy spot. The food was good. The service was fair. Server did not check on us as soon as food came out. Would have preferred a slightly more attentive service. She was very pleasant though. Would recommend as a place for a good casual environment and meal.

Basically it's a college bar with decent food and service. The place was LOUD, I have to say.

The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and professional from the greeter at the desk to getting my parking ticket validated before we left. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The hostess was rude. Came with my mother who recently had a hip replacement. Only available tables were high tops which is not conducive to people like this. She was not accomodating or offering any suggestions except "you'll have to wait 30 min." And then just stared at us. We left and will not come back. If you have anyone with any disability, this place is not for you.

We experienced the slow food service this time. We had tickets to the Shubert and had to quickly eat our dinners because the food service was slow. This was the first time we had that experience.

We had a gift card to use and in the past, we used to visit the Seymour Connecticut location, but that has since closed so we decided to go to downtown New Haven. We had a reservation for 7 o’clock, and when we arrived, we were nicely greeted and seated immediately. It was a chilly night so we both started with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon that was very good. We started with the fried calamari which was cooked perfectly and the calamari was very tender. I chose the meatball and ricotta pizza and my other half chose the sausage risotto. The pizza was absolutely delicious and the crust had a good char that was absolutely perfect. The meatballs were very tasty on the pizza. My other half enjoyed the sausage risotto, I also tried it and it was very good. For dessert we decided to go with the special which was a raspberry mousse cake with a chocolate cookie crumb crust. We shared 1 piece, but actually I could have eaten the whole thing on my own! It was very good. The place was crowded and a bit lively and we both laughed because we were probably the oldest people in there! Another nice choice for pizza and then New Haven dining scene.

Brunch was delicious!! My BELT was good. My husband’s Southern Grill Platter looked delicious-he ate every bite. Topped off with a cannoli waffle. We definitely enjoyed it!
