Absolutely fantastic experience. Greeted by a most gracious hostess!!! Tommy and Sarah, at the bar, are phenomenal mixologists and gave us the 411 on each drink and the menu!!!! We started with Grilled & chilled Spanish Octopus / saffron aioli, focaccia crumb, charred shallot and mint chimichurri. Pony enjoyed Seared Scallops / goat cheese polenta, green piri piri, and crispy broccoli. I took a journey with the Ahi Tuna / uni butter, Napa cabbage and bottarga. And mustn’t forget the Shishito Peppers!!! Perfection. Taste. Ambiance. Personality and staff knowledge above board.

This rating should be a 4.5. Food and service were fantastic. Would have given a 5 star rating but was just slightly turned off by the decor. Don’t let that influence your decision to come for an amazing meal.

My wife and I dined at Ostrea for our Anniversary. I can only find one word to describe our experience… Weird. The restaurant was highly recommended by other Open Table diners so we gave it a try. Even though the dress code is listed as Business Casual, our server was dressed in jeans and an untucked shirt. Clearly, his version of Business Casual was very different from ours. We asked for recommendations on the menu. Our server pointed out that the menu has a cold side and a hot side and that we should choose items from each side. The menu items ranged from appetizer size to larger, entree size, but it was difficult to figure out which was which. We chose 2 cold plates, the Hamachi and the Tuna Tartare. The Tuna was excellent and the best part of the meal. We chose to share the Chilean Sea Bass as our hot item. It was very good but was much too small to be considered shareable. I had to ask the server if he recommended a side with the Sea Bass and he recommended the fingerling potatoes. I should not have needed to ask if I wanted a side, the server should have made the suggestion. There were no vegetables or anything green served with the fish which seemed strange… just a plate of steaming seafood completely out of context. There was also no salad or soup or bread or anything like it available. At the end of the meal, our server sauntered over to check on us. We expected him to offer coffee, an after dinner cocktail, and/or dessert. Instead, there was an awkward silence, so I asked him for our check. We left feeling very underwhelmed. Especially after paying nearly $150 for 3 food items and one cocktail. This place is owned by the London Chop House, one of the most venerable dining establishments in Detroit. I assumed, incorrectly, that the same level of service and elevated dining would be present at Ostrea, but it was not. We will not be back and I encourage everyone reading this to do your research before wasting your time and money.

The food was very nice but the restaurant had no vibe. The decor is questionable and looks like the dining room of a mid-level chain hotel...

My fiancee and I dined at the bar on a Monday night. We had a wonderful evening celebrating her birthday by checking out what they're doing at Ostrea. We ordered a number of things including the Bad Boy oysters, Spanish octopus, Trumpet mushrooms, seared scallops, swordfish, Chilean sea bass cioppino, cold poached asparagus, and the chef sent out the crab rangoon raviolo. I think we both agreed we enjoyed the scallops the most with the smooth pea puree, interesting truffle powder, first morels of the season and the adorable 'Made Better' chips. The flavors of all the dishes were very good and I would be amiss if I didn't mention the Shiso broth the Trumpet mushrooms were in. The only complaint would be that the swordfish and sea bass were a bit under seasoned. We had seen other reviews mentioning the size of the dishes but we knew going into the meal that it's a menu that is meant to be shared, and guests should order a number of dishes to create a tasting menu to their liking. The chefs and bartender did a great job of coursing out the dishes which allowed us to savor each bite and really enjoy our evening. Thanks to the staff for such a nice evening out and we certainly will recommend to our friends.

First time and it was wonderful! Our server Josh was very knowledgeable and knew his wines! Saw the owner Nico, a longtime friend, and of course he was charming! I think we order almost everything on the menu and shared it with the other couple dining with us! Will definitely go back

If you're looking for basic/traditional seafood dishes, this is your spot. Food was cooked very well, just very boring menu. Cocktails were excellent. Service was very good. Nothing interesting or adventurous. Your parents will probably like it.

Too expensive for what it is. Service was okay at best. They forgot to put one of our orders in. Drinks took a while and they didn’t clear the table. Food was pretty good but not worth the price for the portion size. We left feeling half full and having spent a lot… We won’t be back.
