The experience was fine, food was fine. You are paying fine dining prices for a very mid meal. The restaurant was busy, our waiter was friendly but service was awful. We saw our waiter 3 times the entire meal making it hard to order drinks.

Walking in we were very hopeful about this place. Interior is very nice, and the seats are plush and comfortable. However, sitting down would be the last enjoyable moment of dinner.
Before I get to anything else, I have to point out that when we (party of 2) walked in, the place was empty. It took 2 employees having a conversation for MORE than 2 minutes looking around and pointing before they managed to find an empty table that suited them.
The rest of dinner was one disappointment after another. Drinks took at least 10 minutes after ordering. One beer and one glass of wine in an empty restaurant took 10 minutes. We ordered the caesar salad which was fine. Dinner was the branzino (ordered with sauce on the side) and the salmon. The food took a long time, but we expected that with how nice this place is trying to be.
Both fish can out wrong. Branzino came covered in sauce and the salmon came with sauce on the side. Unfortunately we had to send both back. It also took me waving down 2 separate employees who both said “I’ll get your server.” Seriously?! I told them both what was wrong and they basically told me it wasn’t their problem.
So, once the plates came back out it was 100% obvious they had remade the branzino and left the salmon under a heat lamp, or in an oven. The salmon was within an inch of being jerky.
We just decided to eat and be done. But we weren’t done were we? There was still a check to mess up, of course.
We were overcharged on the check, shocking. This time I made sure to get our server so as not to inconvenience another restaurant employee. When all is said and done, Palma is trying so hard to be the highest of high end restaurants without ANY follow through. We have a 2 year old at home and don’t get to go out alone very often.
This was a waste of more than just $200.

I think I expected more for the money; food was “good,” but not “$60 steak” good. I think I would come back again if the prices were about half of what they were for this visit. There are much better options in the area for the price point they think they’re in.

It was our first time eating here, but it most certainly will not be our last. The food was amazing – we got the Caesar salad, filet mignon, and Chilean Seabass, along with the focaccia and two desserts – everything came out fresh and hot and absolutely delicious. The servers were incredibly welcoming. The restaurant itself is beautiful as well. The one thing that I would love for them to work on would be the volume of the music. We loved the live violinist! When he wasn’t playing, the other music was a bit loud. Other than that, we had a wonderful evening!

I was hoping for great things from Palma, as I live in Burbank and would like nothing more than for Burbank to develop a higher-end dinner scene. While Palma may eventually hit its stride, right now, there are thousands of other restaurants in the greater LA area that offer a better experience. I'm not talking value here - this is a higher-priced restaurant, and that's fine if the experience fits the price. But Palma needs to iron out a LOT of details before it can justify its prices.
First off, the food - I sampled a total of five dishes, and they were all good, none were great. That alone doesn't disqualify Palma from charging what it does, but let's move on...
Drinks - very good overall (I loved my Manhattan, I didn't sample the others but I didn't hear any complaints). They are a little expensive (we had 4 mixed drinks among four of us, plus a glass of wine, and it was about $20 per drink). I'm going to give Palma a pass here.
Service - earnest, polite, but not particularly good. Long waits between dishes, and our server was totally tied up with other tables the last half hour on a Saturday night, and simply could not provide us our check. We waited about 20 minutes to pay, and had to use a different server to do so, who himself had trouble running the bill. Not acceptable.
Physical space - The tables and loveseats do not match up in terms of size, as the table blocks entry into the loveseats, meaning you actually have to push the table out of the way to get in or out. Terribly awkward when you are pushing your table into your friends on the other side to go to the restroom. Palma could implement a short-term fix by pulling the loveseats out about a foot from the wall, so they stick out further into the aisle, allowing people to scoot in without moving the table. But long-term, this seating arrangement is simply not acceptable.
Ambiance - Ludicrously loud electric violinist playing easy listening covers. Need I say more?
Verdict: Needs work, skip for now.

We dined here recently and were underwhelmed in almost every way. Alot of our disappointment centered around the food.
We ordered the shrimp flambe which were described as "giant prawns". In reality they were something akin to u24 shrimp with the body still on. In other words they were very average shrimp with the body. Also, the lacked much if any flavor for a sauteed shrimp. We were expecting alot more from this dish.
Next we had the special which was a whole branzino for $90. We confirmed that the skin was crispy on the fish as that is key for branzino. The fish was deboned tableside which was frankly, awful to watch. By the time the waitress was done deboning, there was literally a pile of shredded mess of branzino on each plate. There was no skin and certainly not a fish presented on the plate the was branzino deserves to be.
On the positive side, the drinks were good and we had a beet salad that was good too. Also, the bus staff was very attentive and helpful. The one bright spot in the service.
Overall, in a city like Los Angeles with so many dining options we would not go back here. There was a large value disconnect, mediocre service from the waitress, and overall just a lot of hype that fell very short.
