This was our second visit to Parterre and once again it was outstanding. The brunch menu provides a choice for everyone, the service was excellent, and the restaurant lends itself towards an excellent time for dining and conversation.

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Parterre Restaurant in downtown Richmond. Located in an historic area and building, the ambiance was pleasant with enjoyable music at an appropriate volume as background. We started with delicious fried oysters as an appetizer for the table, complemented by beverages of choice from a nice selection. Our dinners included; a steak, which our daughter said was delicious; an autumn salad with shrimp, which was also raved about; a burger that our son stated was one of the best he’s had; and my shrimp and grits with andouille, which also rated as one of the best I’ve had (and I thoroughly enjoy shrimp and grits!). Our server had the perfect balance of great service and genuine friendliness, while being unobtrusive. We highly recommend Parterre and will come back when e are in Richmond.

My husband and I enjoyed an excellent dinner here on a weekday evening. We shared the fried oyster appetizer. The tender oysters were fried perfectly with a light coating. I had the fried catfish and my husband had the steak. Although the catfish was very good the steak was outstanding. And thank goodness - a restaurant that brews decaf coffee. It’s annoying how many excellent restaurants don’t offer decaf, which to me is the perfect ending for a good meal. Service was fast and efficient without being overly attentive.

Parterre is a cozy little dining spot that could be an oasis if it had a more personable atmosphere. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. The guests at Linden Row must value the convenience of it on the premises but for members of the public to frequent it, they have to feel welcome.

Don't be fooled by all the good reviews. This place felt like an afterthought for a hotel. My wife got the avocado toast, and asked that her eggs be cooked "whites fully cooked, but yolk still a little runny" and a London fog (earl grey tea with frothed milk). I got the biscuits and gravy. We were given a london fog alcoholic drink, which was a simple mistake, we clarified the request, but the tea that came out was basically warm with a tea bag on the side, the tea really didn't steep well in the milk. Not the worst thing, but a little annoying. The real problem was that her eggs came out with the whites still a bit under cooked, and it took us a good few minutes to find the server to ask for them to be cooked a little more. The server said they needed to ask the kitchen if she should take back the whole plate, or just the eggs. This question took quite a while for the server to say they are going to cooke new eggs. This would've been a good option if the server had done a table touch within a short time after the food was served, but by the time the eggs came out, the rest of my wifes food was cold. While the biscuits and gravy weren't terrible, the only flavor was in the gravy. The biscuits were very dry and a little hard, and the breakfast potatoes tasted almost unseasoned, and also pretty dry and overcooked. I'll tell you what though, they know how to cook scramble eggs (just not season them). Very lackluster given all the good reviews we read.

Best ambiance in Richmond. The patio/courtyard feels like you are in Charleston. Really good food, servers are super nice. Shocked more people don’t know about this place.

While we hoped to dine on the patio, the weather didn't cooperate. But, love the cozy atmosphere of the dining room. The brussel sprouts appetizer is delicious and plentiful to easily be shared with 3 people. I chose the mushroom pasta dish witch included cheese ravioli, spinach & mushrooms. The dish was good, but too heavy on the sauce. The dish, in my opinion would have been so much better without a bowlful of sauce. My friend has the gumbo ramen noodles dish that she enjoyed. I do enjoy this restaurant very much and was sad to hear that it will be closing later this year.
