From July 1st, 1957, there had been two owners of Pates, Cloyde Pate followed by the Gardner family of Chatham. Mr. Pate opened the doors to what would soon become one of Cape Cod’s most beloved restaurants. Once a cozy hamburger and ice cream stand, Pates grew to be a place of celebration, camaraderie, and community. From the bonds staff made during countless summer seasons, to the engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and family gatherings, Pates has been a backdrop for exceptional moments and people.

We are honored to steward the next chapter of the Pates journey. A renovated space to create new memories and friends, Pates is still that very special place. With careful consideration, we have redefined this Chatham classic and are serving up an experience rooted in the best things in life: great food, good people, and lifelong memories.

Pate's rates among the best restaurants we have dined at here on Cape Cod. Service was excellent. The menu had a broad choice of dishes, and also offered small plates for those with light appetites. The food was well prepared and beautifully presented. My crusted, seared, Ahi Tuna was expertly cooked. I often order a similar dish at other restaurants, and Pate's prepared this item as well as the best I've had in the past. Prices are as you would expect at a fine restaurant, but they do offer a few prix-fixe selections which are good values. We will definitely visit Pate's again.

Our host was amazing upon arrival and seated us although we were 40 minutes early. We were graced with Gwen our server. She was absolutely wonderful and the empty plates were a testament to the knowledge of the kitchen staff and the execution and timing were spot on. It was a birthday dinner for my sister and she was over for the moon with the entire experience.

I ordered the pasta with seafood, there was very little seafood in it. I was very disappointed. My husband had the steak which had grissle down the middle. It was my birthday and was hoping for a special delicious dinner that I did not get.

Menu was extensive, cocktails were creative, food was excellent, and prices mostly very reasonable. Tuna cone small plate was a hit! A little loud in there but overall a great dinner, we’ll definitely be back!
