About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for business meals
Peppercorn’s Grill is owned and operated by the Cialfi siblings, Sal and Dino, Brothers Sal and Dino purchased Peppercorn's Grill in 1989 and opened Piccolo Arancio in 1994. This generation of Cialfi's has added modern creativity and personality to traditional strengths of their Italian roots. Sal and Dino were trained in the art of Italian food at their uncle's restaurant in Rome. When the opportunity to open a restaurant arose, they jumped at the opportunity and opened the first Piccolo Arancio in Rome. Piccolo Arancio was internationally acclaimed within their first year. Now operated by their cousins, Piccolo Arancio remains near the Trevi Fountain in Rome. Peppercorn's Grill received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 10 years.

My wife and I have been dining at Peppercorns for years. We are long term season ticket holders, and it has been our go-to before every show. Tonight was our worst experience. The waitress was terrible. She was inattentive all night and even though my wife asked for 2 shrimp on her salad, it came out with 5. When we pointed that out to her, she told us that we could not order only 2 shrimp. She did not tell us that when we ordered, and she charged us for 5. I ordered the fish special, and it came out at room temperature with a very small portion. And even though we arrived at 5:30, we barely made it to the 7:30 show. Tonight, Peppercorns missed on every part of the experience.

We had a delicious meal during this first visit. Out server Ada, was the absolute best. She was attentive, and helped us pick the perfect dishes. The Osso Bucco was the best I’ve had in the Inited States. We had a fantastic dinner. Our new favorite place in Hartford.

Peppercorns Grill was terrific as usual. The best way to enjoy Peppercorns is to sit, relax, order and savor your wine, meal & dessert. I’ve done it many times myself and I recommend it highly. Give it a try.

Took awhile for our server to come to our table and even longer for our drinks to come out as she said the bar was very busy. No attempt to make anything a better experience for our table but put our food order in. Oysters came out with my meal and not as an app as she said they would. Wine stain on the linen tablecloth from the previous table. Very sub par experience for the price of everything.

We were seated without a wait. Food was delicious. Service was very slow. It took over 1/2 hour to get our drinks before dinner. (Maybe the server forgot to put the order in until we asked him to please check on them.)

Hostess and serving staff were all friendly and welcoming. Free parking lot next to restaurant was convenient. Calamari, salmon and rigatoni w/vodka sauce were excellent. Portions were adequate but no leftovers to take home. Convenient location for a nice dinner before a UCONN basketball game at the XL Ctr.
