Nestled in the heart of downtown Western Springs, Petite Vie offers a menu curated with classic French dishes infused with Chef Paul Virant's signature flair. Spending time researching in France for inspiration, Virant has crafted every dish with meticulous attention to detail and a reverence for tradition.

Seating 65 guests, Petite Vie’s intimate space exudes the warmth and comfort of a traditional French brasserie, while seamlessly blending modern design elements. A collaboration between Virant, his wife Jennifer and long-time friend and designer Jody Tate, every detail at Petite Vie tells a story of meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful curation.

Featuring French intricacy and layering, the space is a canvas of artistic expression, with artwork curated from both local talents and treasures acquired during the team's time in Paris. Framed prints, commissioned paintings, and a round antique mirror passed down through generations, adorn the walls, adding layers of intrigue.

We love this restaurant, we have eaten one dinner and one brunch. I had the special rabbit dish, very French, and loved it. I had the quiche at Brunch and it was light and very tasty, completed with a salad Maison. Only complain is the seating. There was a table of 10 women in the main dining room, they attempted to seat us beside them - no way, and a corner table that seats 4. We sat at the end of the bar (there were 2 of us) and we could still hear the noise of the big party. There is a big area in the back of the restaurant, why weren't they put back there? Overall, we love this new restaurant and will keep coming back.

The fish in the parchment paper was absolutely divine as were the little truffle pastry puff as an appetizer. Bartender made a perfect whiskey sour with egg white also. Great cozy ambiance for the holiday season

One of the best meals EVER. Duck confit was perfectly prepared. Sunchoke delicious. Service excellent. Wines by the glass were reasonably priced. Unfortunately we were seated next to a very large AND NOISY party. Not sure what a restaurant can do about that, but it did wreck the ambiance.

I have eaten at Vie for many years and Petit Vie is just a continuation of one of the great restaurants in the Chicago area. An original farm to table spot with all kinds of creative dishes. Never disappointing. Only thing I can think of to make it even better, more seared fois gras!

We decided to have a late dinner here on a Saturday night. We chose to sit at the chef’s counter. It is warm by this area, but fun and bustling to see them working on all the delicious food. We started with escargot and the scallop appetizers. Both were delicious, and left us wanting more. We shared a lyonnaise salad, the combination of ingredients was flavorful and light, and the dressing was a perfect balance with enough acid. We had the steak frites and the monkfish, both were outstanding. We finished with the new apple tart with crème fraise ice cream. it was a great combination- the tart was buttery, caramelized, cinnamon forward and the ice cream was not too sweet. We had manhattans (well made, but fairly standard), the framboise cocktail (berry flavor, smooth, and light) and the signature petite vie 75 cocktail (citrus forward, sweet, and fresh). Definitely will be back!
