I had read a previous bad review on this restaurant but the assured me that it was due to a problem they had solved. The meal was really low quality! The four people in our party have the same opinion. The sea bass was chewy, salty and had a terrible combination of flavors ( cooked with chorizo 😳). It was also too fishy, not very fresh at all. The desert could have come from a frozen container from Trader Joe’s… nothing special! And the salad… we could have skipped that no problem. The only good thing was the soup. The service was very slow at first… they took 45 minutes to serve us. And after we complained they brought us things too fast as they brought the fish while we were having our salad. The ambiance was anything but classy with people in several tables hitting their plates with the utensils to call the staff’s attention. I would not recommend this at all.

Dear Ms. Borja, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I deeply apologize for your disappointing dining experience. The quality of the sea bass, dessert, and salad, along with the service delays and rushed pacing, fell far below our standards. The issues you described, including the lack of ambiance, are unacceptable, and I sincerely regret that we did not deliver the experience you were promised. Please know that your feedback has been shared with our culinary and service teams and these concerns have been addressed. I would love the opportunity to regain your trust and welcome you back for a better experience. Please let me know if you would consider returning, and I will personally oversee your visit to ensure it’s nothing short of exceptional. Warm regards, Charlyn C. Pied Piper GM

Absolutely horrible experience at their New Year’s dinner. Would not recommend to anyone. Food was not great. Our poor waiter did his best but he was given far too many tables to handle.

I would suggest that you make sure to hired waitress to help out when you know you are expecting a lot of people dinning in. :) I noticed some people feeling upset for this specific reason and that put more pressure on the actual waitress attending, which it is not fair. Otherwise it was nice.

Pied piper is our favorite SFO bar. Made NYE reservations to be sure of a table in bar and dinner. Seated in bar, handed a Fixed price dinner menu only. No drink included. Ordered drinks and asked for time to review menu. No bar snacks delivered or offered. Made meal selections and waited. New customers arrived and ordered from regular menu! And bar snacks delivered with drinks. So with no reservations, they had the evening we had wanted! The waitress was not trained to listen when we asked questions. Kept taking husband's bread plate away. Final straw was dessert, delivered something we did not recognize as what was listed on fixed menu. She could not answer or questions. Waited for another waiter to help. Brought each of us another plate of dessert, supposedly menu was not list of options, but a 2- dish separate dessert. We sent it back. Bill was expectedly high. First time Pied Piper failed us. Will think twice before any further dinners. NO reservations and will take a chance for a bar seat. Most disappointing NYE ever.

I need to preface this review, by stating that at the time, Marriott has just endured an 80 days strike by staff, so this does need to be borne in mind. The positives: The moment of greeting by the door host: excellent and got me to my seat really fast. The food, itself, was truly well prepared and plentiful. I couldn't eat everything and that says something. The service, when it happens, is really attentive. The negatives: The place is dusty, seriously dusty. I don't blame the cleaning staff for this, they've been on strike. I blame management who haven't been coming in with a critical eye and seeing what customers see, and taking action, as they should. At the Palace Hotel, I expect that from management. The floor itself is seriously understaffed. There were possibly two (but I suspect) one floor staff and he was run off his feet. This could easily have done with another server. No one checked the menus before service, because I was served with a menu with the main page missing. When I pointed this out, the menu was removed but never replaced, so I had to borrow my partner's menu to read what was available. There is no option available for non alcoholic beverages. Nothing in either the menu or the wine list offers this. When I asked the waiter about this, he went, checked, came back and forgot the ingredients in the one only non alcoholic drink. I had the feeling I may well have been the first customer to ask this. I'm surprised, these days. My party was not offered dessert. We finished our mains, at which point our check arrived. Subtle, this was not. Overall, I'm disappointed. The Pied Piper is part of the Palace Hotel. It's standards should be above and beyond. This was neither above and certainly nowhere near approaching beyond.

The Thanksgiving price fixe meal for $160 was nothing short of awful. The turkey was in the form of pressed meat in a crescent shape, it along with whatever was supposedly stuffing and gravy reminded me of opening a can of dog food it was tasteless and looked like a mess on the plate. The turkey came with 5 green beans next to a disgusting blob of cold mashed potatoes and 3 small pieces of sweet potatoes. The appetizers and dessert were lackluster nothing to write home about. Overall it was simply disgusting. I would not recommend eating at the Pied Piper the meal was overpriced. The chef should return to culinary school.

Dear Ms. Perrin, I truly regret that your Thanksgiving meal with us was so far from your expectations. The turkey presentation and the overall quality of the meal do not reflect the standards we hold ourselves to, and I’m deeply sorry we missed the mark. Your comments about the turkey and sides have been shared with our culinary team and has been reviewed. We are committed to revisiting our approach to ensure such issues are addressed, and your feedback is instrumental in our improvement. We would love the opportunity to provide you with a much more positive experience. Please feel free to reach out to me directly for your next visit. Warm regards, Charlyn C. The service was really bad! Shocking for a nice hotel but it may be due to the ongoing strike. The server had no idea about the menu, very nervous and got our order wrong. Instead of tomato soup, we got French onion soup! The food was ok but took a long time to arrive, with the appetizers and entrees arriving at the same time! Ugh!
