Place Pigalle consistently produces outstanding, well-flabored food. There are no gimmicks here, only mastery. We had the onion soup, crabcakes, and some delightful cocktails. The room is beautiful in a simple, traditional way and has great views over the water.

What a great find! We stumbled upon this gem on accident. Our earlier choice had a very long wait so looked up on Open Table and voila! Please be wary that it's tricky to find the place. It's on a little stretch of "balcony" sidewalk as you walk past the fish market. Don't go downstairs or you'll see it above you (like us) and have to trudge back up. Our server Hannah was lovely. Very friendly and knowledgeable with great suggestions on the menu. The view is amazing! If you are lucky enough to get a window seat (there appear to be three that directly face the bay and a few on the side that give a view to those facing the correct direction) I highly recommend asking in advance to sit there. Enjoy!

Superb food (variety and quality); first rate service, responsive, perfect ambience with stunning view toward Elliott Bay. And, you're able to walk through the Pike Place Market, sets the stage. Exceptional.

Food And drinks were awesome. We kind of expected a little more of a French lassez faire attitude. More small servings over a longer period of time. It was more of an American style of restaurant than we expected.

For me, dining out is about the food, and the food left a lot to be desired. The location is wonderful, with beautiful views, very charming interior. And the service was pleasant. However, I ordered the mussels, and when they came to the table they were lukewarm (warmer in some spots and downright cool in others). I have never been served lukewarm mussels, but to be fair I asked the server if that was the intention, and the answer was no, so she said she would have the kitchen remake them. A little while later, the replacement dish arrived, and the mussels were steaming on top, so I was optimistic! However, when I dipped my bread in the sauce at the bottom, it was nearly refrigerator cold. I asked the server if they are refrigerating the mussels and then reheating it under a heating element, and was told no, that the kitchen is supposed to heat up the sauce in a skillet before serving and so something was going wrong. In the end, I switched to an endive salad, which was fine, but not what I had intended to have for lunch, and was a little overpriced. My impression is that not all of the food is prepared on site -- they may be purchasing pre-made components and then re-heating and assembling them? Not totally certain but that would be consistent with my experience. If you don't care a lot about food, this place is very charming and has a wonderful view. If you care about quality food, well prepared, and delicious, you may want to look elsewhere.

Have been here many times before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Was disappointed with this visit, however. Cocktails were so-so, no egg white foam on the sour (I get it, eggs are expensive! But guests should be notified of the change). Oyster appetizer came reasonably fast and was delicious. I think the entrées were not fired, so we sat for close to an hour with no food. Guests seated 20 minutes after us had finished dessert before one of our two entrees arrived. The other entree did not arrive for another 15 minutes after the first one. I had to eat alone because the food was becoming cold. Our server was polite, but only came by a few times to tell us "just a few more minutes on the food" each time. The beans in the cassoulet were slightly undercooked and crunchy. The duck was perfectly crispy & delicious. The bottle of wine was incorrect, which I suspected but couldn't compare to what I had ordered from the menu, because our drink menu was taken away although I set it to the side, stating that we might want to order more cocktails. Everything had taken so long we declined dessert. Overall the impression was to not go on a weekend - perhaps the staff were behind because of the volume? A celebratory dinner there recently was very good, so I picked it for my birthday, but regret that decision.

We had the clam chowder which was absolutely amazing - very delicate yet rich and delicious. The mussels were also fantastic. The smoked salmon seemed dry, but overall the food was great, wonderful view, and really nice service.
