The food was average. Nothing special about the Gangwon Noodle. It was more of a salad versus a soup. They were out of 3 teas on the menu. The service was as actually the best part. Servers went out of their way to help us with food decisions.

The food is average. Service is not good. We needed to wave our hands, call 2 to 3 times before we could get our water fill or get extra spoon and chopsticks

Honestly I was a little nervous about dining here given the flood of negative reviews I've seen during its opening days. Luckily it looks like they're on track towards working the operational details out as I had a fantastic dining experience here. I came here on Tuesday at 5pm and was greeted by staff and seated quickly. We ordered a la carte and the food and banchans were brought out extremely quick upon ordering (almost too quick as everything came out all at once, including the appetizer. That's the only critique). Given the price point ($20-30 per appetizer/entree), I was extremely impressed by the beautiful presentation of the food, it sure looked like it was prepared by a michelin starred chef. I particularly enjoyed the buckwheat noodle and blue crab cabbage, it was extremely flavorful and creative - they definitely do refreshing and lighter dishes really well! We also had the bulgolgi rice bowl and seafood jiggae, which were good but not particularly special when compared to other traditional korean restaurants. The bulgogi was well marinated but a tad bit too dry. The servers were extremely attentive and checked in with us, giving us water refills every now and then, very excellent service! I also really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant, it was just a nice place to chill and relax after a chaotic shopping experience. The whole experience felt quite upscale but the price point was decently affordable (by no means cheap but for bay area it's quite bang for buck), I am not exactly sure how they're able to profit from this. I would absolutely return for their buckwheat noodles and look forward to trying the rest of the menu!! I urge you to give them a chance as it looks like they're doing their best to improve the restaurant.

Great variety of hard to find Korean dishes including fresh, high-quality ingredients. Great value compared to the typical offerings nearby.

We had an abalone bibipbap, a seafood soup, an eel over rice, and a vegi combo dish as appetizer. Food was very good and delicious! It is good combination of ingredients and perfectly marinated. The free appetizer was nice as well with rice buns. Service was ok, the water cup was so small and needed frequent refills. Overall, we like our lunch and look forward to going back. They do have a complimentary birthday rice cake for dessert only for the day of your birthday. You need to show your ID to prove.

We wanted to wait a couple of weeks after it opened to really sit down and enjoy the food at POGU. We opted for the a la carte option to taste the quality before committing to the Chefs Pick option. We sat down at 5:55pm, ordered an appetizer and 2 main dishes. The appetizer of blue crab cabbage came out within minutes - it ended up being the best dish we ordered. Then came my eel bibimbap, which I was warned by the waitstaff was a hot bowl. The bowl may have been hot, but the food was lukewarm, the eel way overcooked and chewy. Was not enjoyable at all, I ate less than half. My husband got the bulgogi rice bowl - nothing spectacular. The food came out so fast it tasted like the meat was just reheated, which made it all tough and chewy. We tried to linger, but it wasn’t possible - we were offered our check, though desserts were not suggested to us. We paid and walked out by 6:30! Not what we expected for a dinner out. Our table was in the far corner of the restaurant (that was not crowded) and connected next to what appeared to be a bussing station. Also only a beverage size napkin and while pretty, the smallest glass for water. Also, please give food menus to all people eating. We were handed three menus - I assumed 2 food and a drink menu, however one was food, one was beer/wine and one was cocktails. Too many options for good Korean food in the city - unfortunately this was a miss.

Do not waste your money. We were very disappointed our food had been sitting out for a significant amount of time. When we received it, it was room temperature and did not taste good at all. This place is a cash grab. You’re better off going somewhere else.

Had the chef’s tasting menu, very disappointing. The worst was the dessert. We had 2 tasting menu and one dessert was hard texture while the other one was creamy. We thought the hard one was frozen. When we brought it up, waitress said it’s suppose to be hard texture but couldn’t explain why the other one was a soft cream and mushy.
