Prelude is a restaurant that is reimagining Southern cuisine. As a team, we will produce and serve nostalgic Americana food and drink, inspired by the Bay Area. We will be using some of the best produce in the world, combining modern high-level cooking techniques and recipes passed down through the generations of our Chef Celtin Hendrickson-Jones maternal family. Our offerings will be available in two menu formats: a multi course pre-fixe menu with options for guests to handpick their dining experience, and “salon menu” featuring quick bites to larger plates, all ordered at the guest's discretion.

I had a fantastic experience. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable . The tasting menu was not only delicious, but was plentiful. I left stuffed!!! Home made "Nutter Butter" at the end was an amazing touch.

Prelude was excellent. Staff was great. We did the tasting menu and there were some very flavorful bites. Head Chef even came to the table a couple of times, which was a nice touch.

First, the space itself is very nice. The staff are all friendly and professional. It was a treat to meet the executive chef and he was very nice to take time to talk to us. As for the food, the timing was a bit off. Too much time to bring the cocktails as well as the appetizers. The sides were really very tasty but sadly the snapper was not as good. I think, being a new restaurant, it still has to find its legs but a good beginning.

Exciting menu but disappointing execution. The deviled eggs were divine and the stuffed chicken, though pricey, was fantastic. Then the meal went downhill. The smoked catfish dumplings were spongy in texture. Would recommend not ordering the gulf red snapper at $56-were served in an odd roll shape and were not tasty. Service was attentive. Wine was also good.

The food and service were excellent! The pork chop is an absolute must. Drinks were very creative and paired very well with the food. The decor, lighting, and mood inside were very mid century inspired, making for a fun dining experience. We will definitely be coming back!

Tasting menu offers excellent value for SF price level. Pork chop and ribeye were among the best I’ve had. Highly recommend.

It was a wonderful dining experience! All the dishes from the starters to dessert were delicious, the service was wonderful, ambience was perfect, and the signature cocktails were exceptional. The chef really did an amazing job with this; southern comfort food with a California twist. Amazing.

Had very high hopes for this place. Ambiance is incredible and great service. The portions at this place leave something to be desired, we ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table and wanted to share three entrées between five people. The steak was no more than 4 ounces of Wagyu, and for what they’re charging, leaves something to be desired. The food is impeccable but portion size to price, especially for this caliber of restaurant is unbalanced.
