   Puntamar has become one of our favorites in the area. Alejandro is a warm and attentive owner and beautifully shares his love for the food he presents. Standouts include the tuna tataki tostadas, the Machu Picchu ceviche, the birria pizza, and the octopus. I always look forward to going back and trying something new or seeing the faces of the new folks we’ve brought with us to dine. I always feel transported to someplace magical when we dine here. Love, love, love this place.

   Love the overall vibe of this cute restaurant! The food was really good, definitely try the fish tacos (better than most places I’ve tried around north & deeper San Diego area). The Birria Quesadilla was also so delicious and savory. Also can’t go wrong with the churros for dessert. We can’t wait to come back!!

   This was our 2nd visit. The 1st time we enjoyed the cool relaxed vibe of the palapas and open concept. The hostess was new & sadly wasn’t knowledgeable with the menu items. The mole enchiladas were authentic and tasty but sadly came with no sides. The birria pizza had a great presentation but all I tasted was cinnamon. We mentioned it to the owner, but he didn’t seem fazed. The menu was interesting enough that we decided to return for a birthday dinner with another couple. The owner knew I requested a specific table for our rsvp and texted me back that it was no problem. Unfortunately, we were sat behind the table I had requested for our 6:15pm rsvp It was occupied by 4 men who were only drinking and had been there since 3:30pm. Their drunk vulgar language in Spanish was loud and disgusting. I saw the owner having shots with them & checking in on them constantly. I was hoping he would’ve asked them to either move into the empty bar area or have seated us away from them since he knew they had been drinking for hours. There were many empty tables. While we were talking to the owner about the situation, the group of men were laughing at us. Clearly they were either friends or family of the owner. Sad to see the lack of professionalism and patrons not being appreciated by the owner. We are locals and were hoping to support this new business. On a positive note, the food was good. But that is not enough reason to come back. We felt very unappreciated and were hoping for a wonderful birthday dinner experience.

   Outstanding, friendly service and they've done a nice job with the space. Even though it's sort of indoor/outdoor, it was very toasty and comfortable on a cold night.

   It was raining and the owner Alejandro manned the floor solo. As he said all food was made from scratch and they don't serve typical Mexican dishes but showcase, authentic Mexican specialties. Since we were starving we ordered Machu Picchu’s ceviche, chicken pozole, gacilian octopus, and branzino and couldn't leave without churros for dessert. It was an amazing experience with Puntamar drinks, food, and service are superb.

   We visited on Valentine’s Day. We didn’t want anything fancy, just to have a nice fun dinner It was OK but won’t be coming back. Service was slow and quality was mid.
