Q resumes welcoming guests June 16, 2020. Lunch service begins June 23. Smaller capacity has allowed Chef Hiro to provide an enhanced omakase experience that begins with ingredients sourced almost exclusively from Japan. Please take a moment to review new information on menu pricing, reservations, and considerations for fellow patrons.

Current conditions unfortunately will not allow us to accommodate walk-in guests. Evening reservations can be made for either 6 p.m. or 8:15 p.m. seatings. Because guests are not presently permitted to wait inside the restaurant, we kindly request that patrons joining for the early seating be mindful that other guests might be arriving at 8:15 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Cancellation policy
Dinner reservations cancelled within 48 hours will be charged $150 per person.

Food was excellent but as a red wine drinker they only offered 2 cabs by the bottle and no red wine by the glass.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Q! Without question we had some of the best sushi of our lives, if not one of the best meals of our lives period! Chef Hiro does bravura work - it is a treat to watch a master work, and his wife, Kyoko, is incredibly attentive and polite in her service. The fish is all from Japan and the 18 courses are diverse, well-balanced, and chosen incredibly thoughtfully. This is not an establishment where they are going to drown the fish in sauces. But when Chef does use sauce, it is exceptionally well prepared and complements the dish perfectly. The speed and volume of the meal was spot-on - leaving us full but totally comfortable. And the sake recommended by chef paired wonderfully with the entire meal. The ambience of the restaurant is excellent and put us in the perfect relaxed headspace for enjoying Chef’s meal. There is a lovely warmth, intimacy, and elegance to the design and decor of the space that feels totally upscale and completely unobtrusive. It is quiet but with enough classical music audible to not feel “flat”. The spacing between patrons/groups was very comfortable and it was very easy to have a conversation and shift about in my seat without feeling like I was intruding on anyone else’s experience. After a stressful day, it was absolutely perfect! While I understand that some folks might never think it is justified to spend $300 per person (before drinks), we felt the price point fairly reflected the meal and attention to detail given — and is well in-line with comparable establishments throughout Los Angeles. If you are looking for a traditional Omakase that is focused on quality fish and technique, and not gold leaf and bone-marrow (though there’s certainly a time and a place for that haha), you would be hard-pressed to find a better meal in Los Angeles. Highly recommended and definitely plan on returning in the future!

The design of the front door already catches your eye before you even step in. The interior was well designed and fit the overall aesthetic of rustic Japanese with the sushi bar as the focal point with Chef Hiro at the helm. Fresh fish with Amazing, complementary flavors, well deserving of it's Michellin star. The soy was just the right amount of saltiness for my pallete. You could even eat the wasabi and ginger on it's own. Kyoko's service was on point. My wife and I were not left wanting after leaving the restaurant.

Two of us paid $200 for the two bottles of wine. Ended up paying $1200+ including tip After 2 hours were were asked to leave out seats for the following seatings We still had our wine left so we sat by the table and paid extra tips for sitting there. Chef and one server, minimal communication, just said the word for the name of fish, sometimes hard to understand. The Hokkaido uni was not fresh so I didn’t eat, no word no compensation. When I paid this much, I would like to have a complete package, good service, interaction and discussion about the food. No tea, no drinks. Not recommend

This is the first restaurant review and also the first negative review I have ever written. It was impossible to imagine a restaurant like this even was considered for a Michelin star. Marketed as one of the best in LA (on Eater), my husband and I eagerly paid a $100 Uber ride during peak traffic to get to this small hole in the wall Omakase in downtown. Upon entering, the decor was dreary with vases and masks that looked like it came out of an alleyway antique shop. The one and only sushi chef had less than zero personality robotically churning out the names of the fish. The fish line was impressive (all overnighted from Japan) but was either paired with an underwhelming sauce or overwhelmed by the red vinegar rice. The giant squid, one of my favorite dish, was mealy due to poor knifing skills but even if cut right, it would have still been overpowered by the edomae rice (browned in red vinegar). Did the chef suffer from Covid after-effects of compromised olfactory senses? This was not a $300 per person experience with a total bill of $1200. Left the restaurant with a severely sour taste in our mouths but it wasn’t just the vinegar.

I came to Q with my girlfriend for our anniversary to experience high-quality sushi and a unique experience since I had found the restaurant on the Michelin guide. I spent almost $1,000 on a dinner for two and we both left hungry. The chef needs to add more dishes to the course! The sushi rice had way too much vinegar and was overpowering all the dishes. Although I believe the service was ok, not great. They add an automatic 20% gratuity charge which I did not believe was fair. Dinner Omakase was falsely advertised at $300 per person but with the added gratuity it was actually $360 plus tax per person. The dinner was very awkward since the chef wouldn't talk to anyone, he was just servicing the dishes, explaining what they were briefly, and after would retreat to preparing the next dish. Whoever gave this place a Michelin star was smoking crack that day. I definitely will not be returning and would rather take my business to a more casual sushi restaurant since at least there I can spend a fraction of what was charged and not leave hungry.

Amazing experience. The omakase was really good, as well as the service, and watching the chef work was a pleasure.
