About this restaurant

Whether you’re a fan of the ever-popular Rasa chain or just love authentic Keralan food, you should definitely pay a visit to Rasa Maricham. Tucked away inside a Holiday Inn, you might be surprised to find this little gem just a stones throw from Kings Cross station. The restaurant specialises in dishes made using black pepper, as this spice is indigenous to the rainforests of South India. We recommend starting with a traditional masala dosa (a gram flour pancake filled with spiced potatoes and vegetables) or the parippu – a lentil soup flavoured with garlic, coriander and black pepper. The main event are the flavoursome curries, cooked to authentic recipes, and for dessert there’s kulfi and payasam (sweet rice pudding) to cool things off. For a Keralan feast in Kings Cross, you can’t go wrong here!

A new discovery for me. Great food and choice. We took a group of 10 from across Europe and all were satisfied. Mainly friendly staff but a little chasing needed we will return

Unfortunately the restaurant was under staffed on this particular night. We were entertaining a client and had to wait ages to be served and then ages for food and drinks. Some drinks orders were forgotten too, which I'm guessing was because the two staff working were slammed with so many tables. Not the best impression for our business dinner!

The welcome was great and the food was OK but our choice of the no-choice all-in menu was flawed because it didn't contain any veggie dishes. The meat dishes all had the same sauce so they were difficult to distinguish. So Keralan but not authentic Keralan because of the need to fit in with the tastes likely to be found in a hotel. We weren't expecting a banana leaf but we were disappointed.

Very good food and service. Very empty at 7pm on a Sat evening so not much atmosphere - lighting somewhat harsh. And the chairs are not very comfortable. But I will go back again because very good value for money.

Each Rasa restaurant serves great Keralan food with wonderful service. Rasa Maricham is on our doorstep In Kings Cross and maintains the high standards set at the original in Stoke Newington. The Holiday Inn setting is somewhat sterile given it's an international hotel chain and the food and charm of its staff make up for it.

Unfortunately the food wasn't good, the ambience was not very indian style except for the screeching music in the background and everything was so anonymously. We ate in better indian restaurants in London.

It is a rather unexpected location as part of a holiday inn, but my goodness the food was worth it! Definitely the best and most authentic Keralan food I have had in London. The knowledgeable and friendly staff made us feel so welcome it was like going to Kerala for a quick holiday! Truly a find!

We met with some old friends (four of us -all in our sixties) in the Rasa Maricham. The ambience was perfect for us as it is set inside the Holiday Inn hotel in a large, attractive, well-lit and relaxed dining room. The Keralan cuisine was interesting and delicious - plenty of vegetable and meat options alongside the fish dishes. We are used to North Indian curries but this was rather different and totally pleasing, with delicate spicing and different South Indian specialities. The service was attentive and friendly, even to escorting us all to a waiting taxi at the end of the meal. A wonderful evening in a convenient and comfortable location near Kings Cross.
