   We scheduled a reservation for August 3, 2015 based on reviews and the extensive menu (at least 4 pages) on their website. We received a reminder only the day before our dinner reservation with the same info as on the website. When we arrived we found only a one page menu with 2 appetizers and 3 salad choices , 3 pasta dishes and pizza. The regular dinner menu, according to our server, had been discontinued for a month before our arrival and we were never notified, nor was the website updated. In addition to this disappointment, several items on the 1 page menu were not available at only 6:30 pm. The chocolate martini we ordered was made with sour cream and had to be sent back. Since this was our first day of vacation in a new area we really had no option except to stay and eat pizza when we had expected to celebrate with a complete meal. Service was also lacking even though the restaurant was not very busy.

   We had a reservation for 6:00pm. Everything seemed great. Our waiter was polite, the menu looked great. I was a bit disappointed because I had previously looked online to see the menu, but when we got there, the menu was different. I found something else so that was fine. The appetizer came around 6:30, however then came the wait. It wasn't until around 7:30 that we received our meals. We heard complaints from other tables, with one group even walking out. We're not one to make a scene so we didn't say anything, however, not once did our waiter apologize to us. We were nothing but polite and understanding but couldn't believe we didn't even get an apology. The meal wasn't anything spectacular either. For a fancy, expensive restaurant in Niagara-on-the-Lake, this was extremely disappointing.

   We arrived at 5:30 for out 5:45 reservation, party of 2. They seated us promptly and took our orders in a timely manner. We received drinks, salads and wine and then nothing. Server never came back to table. The table seated just before us finished their meal and left. Two tables that were seated after us ordered starters and were finished with their entres. About 30 min after we'd finished out salads I went to hostess and asked for our check explaining we were not prepared to wait any longer. She apologized and said she'd send the server over with the bill. The server took the dessert order from the table next to us but never even looked at us. After 10 minutes we went both left the table to wait for the check at the hostess stand. The hostess said we should wait 5 more min and if the server didn't show up we should just leave. I told her I was not comfortable leaving without paying for what we'd actually received but neither was I willing to continue to wait. She needed to get the manager to give us a check or give me a menu and I would add it up myself. A few minutes later the manager brought the bill. No apology, No offer to adjust the bill for the inconvenience. I gave him cash and he left. 5 min later our original server showed up with my change saying "Sorry about that" as she handed it to me. We finally left at 7:20, just under 2 hours after arriving without getting our meal and having spent the last 30 min trying to pay the bill. And was not just us. Two other tables left without paying and we walked out with another table who'd paid for their drinks but never got food. Absolutely unacceptable.

   Went to this restaurant for my birthday with 7 people. The food was very bland and the service was rude and VERY slow. I wouldn't recommend this. Very disappointing.

   Food and service were very good if not excellent. We were a group of five, and all five were very happy. The wine list is somewhat weak, although to be fair, we did find a barolo which everyone liked and was good value. We were fortunate to be there on a perfect summer evening and were able to enjoy the patio which is quite lovely. In a tourist town like Niagara, where so many restaurants are over hyped (and over priced), Giardino stands out.

   This restaurant is lovely whether seated inside the ultra modern dining room or outside in the lovely patio. The food is good but not outstanding and the portions too small for the price. Spaghetti with tomato sauce had a good flavor but the portion was dwarfed by the bowl. Gnocchi was tasty and the portion slightly more, but still less than warranted for the price. We had to ask for bread twice before the not too fresh bread was brought. Our waiter informed us that refills on iced tea and soda were not free in Canada. But some of the more moderately priced places we dined at during this trip automatically offered this with no charge. At these prices, an extra glass of iced tea or soda makes the restaurant seem silly. Also, we were one of 4 tables occupied, with 2 waiters and one assistant. we seldom saw our waiter. Our table was near the stairs leading into the main dining room and at one point he stood on the stairs and asked down to us if everything was all right as if he could not be bothered to make those 4 steps down to our table. Too many better places in Niagara on the Lake.
