Robun is a tribute to Japanese author Kanagaki Robun and his 1872 book Seiyō ryōritsū, which introduced Western barbecue to Japan.

Our modern-day interpretation of Yakiniku specialises in sharing plates of beautiful robata grilled dished large plates fused with elements from across Asia, paired with inspired cocktails and an extensive choice of Japanese whiskeys or sake in the most inviting and sociable of settings.

Alongside our innovative selection of sashimi, salads and small plates, our fresh sushi is served in a variety of creative incarnations including soft-shell crab futomaki roll with kimchi mayo and a tobiko-topped nigiri.

Upstairs in the Kanagaki Suite, we provide an events space and Karaoke bar set to host celebrations and events, from bespoke meetings to the ultimate party.

    Nothing wrong with the place as such, just poor value for what you get. We tried the octopus (ca£25), rather rubbery and dry, black cod was nice but hardly £27 worth, salmon sushi / sashimi / nigiri platter same as you’d get at any other sushi joint only pricier, etc… On the plus side - good selection of sake and impeccable service. Definitely worth a visit - at ca20pct or so less.

    We had an exceptional meal from the A La Carte menu which had a wide selection of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. Particularly liked the octopus and duck. We ordered 8 dishes between 2 people which was plenty. The staff were very attentive.

    evening spoiled by a table of 5 who were actually shouting and screaming with excitement - good to be happy to be out with your friends but the noise levels were way beyond bearable by the rest of the restaurant diners , those tables who were close to finishing just left smartly , we got a table further away but hard to hold a conversation - killed the vibe as just so annoyingly selfish of them .Staff not confident enough to manage them .

    Great food. Lovely place. BUT food came out over the course of 20 minutes so although we were 4 people we couldn’t really eat together. Also waited a long time before our order was taken. It was a shame because the when it came, the food was really good.

    Robun has a friendly staff, nice decor, and pleasant atmosphere welcoming to all ages. Some dishes are standouts, specifically the tuna tartare and black cod. Other dishes are disappointing, the waygu beef over salted and overcooked, the espresso cheesecake pretty tasteless. The sashimi and maki rolls were standard, but tasty. The price for two people (£200+ with drinks) was high considering the mixed quality of the plates.
