The cuisine served at the restaurant is traditional "kaiseki" cuisine prepared by chef Daisuke Hayashi. He has been trained at "Kikunoi" and his proven cooking techniques have been appreciated by many customers. His cuisine is based on dashi and the flavors of the seasonal ingredients themselves.

The interior had been made in Kyoto and shipped to London to be assembled by the craftsmen from Nakamura Sotoji Komuten, one of the world's leading experts in the Sukiya style.

This project started with a desire to follow in the footsteps of our predecessors and to spread the still developing category of Japanese food culture, kaiseki, to the world.

We invite Mr Kasugai, a representative from Chateau Mercian, the pioneer of Japanese wine, holding a maker's dinner paired with the authentic cuisine of Roketsu. We will showcase all seven wines currently available in UK, including Japan's native grape variety Koshu, world class Chardonnay, and high altitude Syrah. Great opportunity to discover or rediscover the excellence of wines of Chateau Mercian.

The look and feel was absolutely like being in a Japanese restaurant. We loved everything about it and will be back soon. Would recommend the sake and Japanese wine pairing. The only small tweak we would make is to tone down the lighting over the diners slightly to give it more ambience.

It was a nice experience, you can really feel the Japanese culture but we didn’t enjoy fully due to a few aspects: They served us a white wine which was not at the right temperature, I’ve asked to add ice in the wine bowl but they didn’t so only after 1h the wine was finally ok . By eating a la carte menu (our choice ) I think was to expensive . Finally the chef (who’s working all the time in front of the long bar where we was seating) did only interact with a few customer and not with all the guests . Overall price/ value is not worth it .

ロンドンで間違いなく一番の和食です。見た目も美しく、店内も京都にいる様な気分になれる内装です。店員さんの距離も適度で、お食事の後に林シェフが挨拶にいらっしゃる事も嬉しかったです。また必ず訪れたいお店です。

Supremely good thankyou . Unique food creations by excellent chef. Service highly attentive by Ken. A larger than expected bill, but we did have plenty of the very best sake, so an equivalent quality red wine would also have been priced highly . I will go back, and exquisite and comfortable experience, sat downstairs - a plqin and private lounge

Had a wonderful birthday here! Food was excellant and everything felt so carefully prepared and delicious. A very thoughtful menu adapted to the geography and season of the UK.
