   Friendly and attentive server; comfortable booth table by the window; delicious and well-prepared food. Worst thing was that they got my order wrong, so by the time my meal was remade and arrived, everyone else at the table was nearly finished. It was nice that the manager came to the table and apologized, but there was no way to remedy the problem. I’ll try the restaurant again, though.

   We had an amazing brunch there today. We went to celebrate our daughter’s 18th birthday and I put that remark on my reservation. When we arrived for our reservation we were sat immediately by a window booth and they put a hand drawn happy birthday sign on the table for my daughter. It was so sweet. The service was excellent, she brought us plates and a knife to cut and share a small birthday cake that we brought with us. Food was AWESOME. The breakfast potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned and the biscuits and gravy are TO DIE FOR. It’s like the cheddar bay biscuits with spicy gravy on top…best thing I’ve ate in a long time. Great place, will definitely be going back again!

   Burnt end empanadas were amazing! Club and grilled cheese fantastic. Tamarind sour outstanding. Extremely busy night with large parties impacted service but friendly, professional and eager to please staff. We will definitely return.

   The Royal Restaurant / Cafe has thrived for over one hundred twenty years effectively continuously (since 1904) because it successfully has integrated tasty, nutritious food with accommodating and friendly service (server Liz), and excellent value. The group of four raved about the food and service that was provided at reasonable prices. And where else in a downtown location ( North Old Town Alexandria) can one find ample free on-site parking. We were impressed also that the general manager dropped by the table a couple of times to monitor our satisfaction. Bravo, Royal Restaurant! Here is to another 120 years.

   The service was great. Friendly staff and quick service. First time here since the remodeling and love it! The street corn deviled eggs were so delish. The unconventional club sandwich was a bit on the salty side for me, but the hubs liked it. Portions are large and having the option for a small or large salad is a bonus! Save room for dessert!
