Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
At Sainte-George, diners can enjoy "incredible food" with views of the fort and Matanzas Bay from the balcony. The "shrimp with pasta" and "pork chop" come highly recommended. While service can vary, standout servers like Beth and Sonny ensure a memorable experience. Despite occasional disorganization, the "ambience is lovely" and the "location is fantastic."

What a disappointment this was. St George used to be our favorite restaurant in St Augustine, but has declined significantly. On a Saturday night at 8pm, we were the only diners in the restaurant--what happened? The chicken was the toughest we have ever eaten, the mahi overcooked. We asked several times for another bottle of water, the salad was not dressing on the side as requested nor was it served all together with the meal. When the salad was brought to the table we remarked that we asked for dressing on the side and the only answer was 'oh'-nothing like 'let me remake this'. When we left at 8pm, they were sweeping the floors and polishing the stairs. The setting is lovely as always, but not enough to want us to go back again-sadly. When we kindly asked what happened, we were told it was a slow night, however around the corner diners were waiting in lines to enter other restaurants. We are so sad to see this happening...

Loved the salads and lemon cheesecake. The pork chop was just a little over cooked but had a delicious crust. The Mac n cheese was a little plain that came with it.

Our waitress was very friendly and sweet. The food took forever and was not good. My husband’s mahi mahi was very overcooked. My ribeye was ok but drenched in sauce and the side salad was drenched in dressing. I like a lot of dressing on my salad but this was extreme. I would add that the hostess was also very sweet and accommodating. The restaurant was very pretty but very very loud. It was not a good experience.

If I could, I would give it a 0. Service was non existent except for bringing you water the first time. I asked a server twice to get water and after 20 minutes I went to the bar to get told that they were busy making drinks I had to wait. That is a restaurant problem not a client problem. Wine was brought and she slammed the wine glass in front without even allowing us to taste the bottle. Waited about 1.5 hr before we asked about our food only to be told that it would be 20 more minutes and then she said you had an appetizer as if that allowed them not to bring the food for that amount time. We ended up leaving without eating. Other couples seating in the balcony had to get up and 2 families left before us just waiting for a server to even get to their table. Bathroom was dirty and they didn’t even have paper to dry your hands. I told the hostess and waiters but nothing was done. Worst experience. Avoid this place.

Disappointing Decline in Quality and Atmosphere Sainte-George Restaurant has been our go-to spot for special occasions for years, thanks to its incredible food, attentive service, and intimate ambiance. Unfortunately, our most recent visit—the Saturday after Valentine’s Day—left us questioning whether it’s still the same restaurant we once loved. From the start, things felt off. We waited about five minutes just to be acknowledged, despite having a reservation for the balcony. Service throughout the night was lackluster, as if we were an inconvenience rather than guests. Food-wise, everything was just… okay, which is a huge step down from the exceptional meals we’ve had in the past. The cornbread was forgettable (which, to be fair, it’s cornbread). The Caesar salad tasted like the dressing came from a bottle, lacking the house-made touch we used to love. Our main course—mahi with broccolini and brussel sprouts—had potential, but the broccolini was cold, which really threw off the dish. We also opted for the Valentine’s Day dessert, which required multiple check-ins before it arrived. When it finally did, it felt hastily thrown together rather than thoughtfully curated. What made Sainte-George Restaurant special was its unique menu—things like a thousand-layer potato, a 60-day wet-aged filet, and perfectly executed bacon asparagus. The atmosphere was once intimate, making every visit feel like a true occasion. This time, it felt more like a casual chain restaurant, where people just grab dinner after work and chat over a meal that’s just… fine. Maybe it was an off night. Maybe they were understaffed. But the magic that made this place worth returning to for years seems to have faded. Sadly, we left feeling more like we’d been to an Applebee’s than the Saint George we once adored.

The steaks were undercooked and had no seasoning. No pepper or salt. The Cornish hens were bland. The drinks were awful. The service was good but the food was terrible.

Was not made aware of limited menu options. Website made no mention that pork chops and short ribs would not be available and that's what we were looking forward to. First and last visit.

We had a reservation for Valentine's Day. We had to wait to be seated, so we sat outside on the balcony. The views of the bay were beautiful. That being said, they had a set menu for Valentine's Day that was NOT very good. The food was bland and overpriced, and there were minimal choices. The drinks were not made very well either. My husband has to send his old-fashioned back. We were very disappointed. I had the mushroom risotto, and it was undercooked. I'm not sure how you mess up risotto, but they did! Our previous experience here was Great! This use to be a good restaurant, we will not be back.
