Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.


The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

    Mozzarella sticks and red sauce were amazing! The lasagna is authentic and the best I’ve had in a long time. It’s a repeat visit for sure!

    Got to the reservation early and they still let us sit easily. Very romantic and clean. Dark red lighting and very pretty. Food was so wonderful and not too much where you walk away feeling gross. Service was fast and friendly. Will 100% be back!

    Sammie's was an exquisite dining experience from beginning to end. While extremely noisy and loud, it only added to the authentic Italian experience. Wait staff was highly attentive and helpful with food and wine selections. Wonderful menu...highly recommend the shrimp francese and veal marsala. Also the arugula salad was excellent. Very very pleasant evening spent celebrating 2 birthdays. One of my top five meals for sure!
