   Was here for the Valentines dinner with my husband. The food was absolutely delicious but for the amount of food we received it did not seem worth it. It was an automatic $100/person and portions were really small., It said that we were going to receive complimentary sparkling rose, but apparently only the first glass was complimentary. Very deceiving and felt like we got tricked on this one. This should have been called out on the menus or the waiter should have let us know as he kept refilling our sparking rose. We discovered this one we paid an extra $100 for sparking rose that we were under the impression was complimentary. Our waiter also recommended a glass of the sparkling rose with some sort of sugar cube in it and said the drink was really good. Unfortunately, the drink was pretty gross and tasted like cough syrup. I only had 1 sip and didn’t drink the rest but we still had to pay $15 for it - very disappointing. I also ordered some to-go food for my mother in law as she was watching our baby and after a few minutes of placing my to-go order I asked the waiter if I could swap the chicken thighs for the California Roll. He also refused and said “no” because the kitchen had already started making the food. Again very disappointing on this as well. Overall, our experience was not the best given the above examples, but hope others had a different experience.

   My husband and I found Shimogamo when only the Chandler location was open. When this location opened closer to us, we were so excited, and we have been stopping in at least once a month since. Every meal is delicious, with amazing flavor! The staff is fantastic and well informed about the menu! Definitely sit at the sushi counter if you can!

   We adore Shimogamo. It is our favorite restaurant in the East Valley. Presentation, food, ambiance, service are all beyond expectations!

   A wonderful experiment as always. Do yourself a favor - if you love sushi and are adventurous, sit at the counter and let the chefs guide your meal. You'll get the freshest fish and meet the nicest people.

    Sushi, Wings, Wagyu… and Embarrassment: A Night at Shimogamo Let me tell you about Shimogamo, the hidden gem of sushi spots that serves food so good, it might ruin you for all other restaurants. From their melt-in-your-mouth sushi to wings so perfect they make you question why sushi places don’t always serve wings—Shimogamo does it all. And let’s not forget the fat-washed Old Fashioned . Yes, you read that right. . This drink didn’t just pair well with the meal—it paired well with my entire existence. It’s smooth, bold, and so indulgent it makes you feel like you should be signing an NDA after drinking it. Now, while the food was perfect, the real cherry on top? Watching my girl die of secondhand embarrassment. Between my enthusiastic descriptions of every bite, my borderline romantic interaction with the Old Fashioned, and maybe a little too much excitement over the wings, she looked like she wanted to crawl under the table. But honestly, that just made the night even better. If the food’s good enough to make you forget decorum, you’re eating at the right place. Shimogamo? 10/10. The sushi? Life-changing. The wings? A revelation. The drink? Amazing levels of luxury. My girl being embarrassed to be seen with me? Priceless.
